What have you been doing today?

Should have gone with wood burner , my winter gas bills are under £30 and £5 this time of year .
glad to see you burning offcuts - so many folk think doing so will ruin the log burner _just bizzare how some folk think

We have an open fire so can only do hardwoods (sparks and all that|) but I certainly light it with off cuts of soft wood (fire guard up)

Agree, local print firm has a steady supply of free pallets , hardwood and soft , some are balsa wood .

Been out with Mrs Mottie, our daughter and our grandson to London Zoo. Worn out and cleaned out!

I'm assuming this was dead when they chucked it in the tiger enclosure?

"Is it time to get up Nanny" says our grandson who slept in our bedroom with us last night. "Yeah, it’s a quarter past six, I’ll get up with you" says a sleepy Mrs Mottie. Of course, I volunteered because I’d set the breadmaker to finish at 6.30. So we got up. Checked the breadmaker, still cold, nowhere near finished plus I couldn’t smell that freshly baked bread smell and it still had hour and 17 minutes to go. For a moment, I thought I’d set the timer wrong when I loaded it up last night. Looked at the clock in the kitchen and it was a quarter past effing five! Currently watching kids TV. Gonna be a long day.

I've quite grown to like 'Paw Patrol' on Netflix, tends to be the go to when we're kid sitting.

Mrs Mottie has a new bedside lamp - one that gradually gets lighter near to getting up time to mimic dawn - can even select birds twittering and getting louder near to the time the alarm goes off. Anyway, turned out that she woke in the night and reached out to turn the display up brighter to see the time and hit the daylight saving button by mistake which altered the time by an hour!

Fortnite here.

I woke at 03:30, couldn't back to sleep (none of the previous statin episode), so got up and made myself a drink, and watched some catchup until 06:30, then back to bed for a couple more hours. Wednesday evening, we'd been discussing another Saturday bus trip, and where to actually go and settled on Knaresborough. We decided to change it to a Friday trip instead, as there was a festival, and another event, predicted to severally disrupt traffic, on the Saturday. A cheap day out, we both settled for butchers sausage, egg, beans, and home chips, in one of the town pubs - Av spotted four candles, in a box, in a charity shop, and we needed some just in case at home, so she bought them.

Been to the fishmongers to but tonight’s tea. Scallop starter with mussels as a main. I’ve put the mussels in water with some flour (to plump them up) and I’ve marinated the scallops in olive oil, garlic, black pepper, parsley and lemon juice. Just got to bake some crusty bread to mop up the liquid later.

Spent the morning burning the Summer offcuts, then a little light gardening like repotting the dwarf azaleas, under orders from my osteo' after a recent visit revealed severe tendonitis in my shoulder. Hurts like a bitch whenever i try to reach up and even tucking my shirt in is a trial. Mr. Jagger was right: it's a drag gettin' old.:( On the bright side, i did find a frogling hopping about the rockery, one of this years brood, golden yellow and v. alert to big boots crashing through his world.
