Britain formally recognises Palestinian state

this being the political party that the people of Palestine chose to represent them in a democratic election, (I sometimes wonder if they partly run the BBC too)
In 2006

In elections that weren’t held properly

Hamas of a history of murdering, raping and abducting people..
I don't disagree They were originally forced out of their homes and land, all 750,000 of them, never to be allowed back, if Israel has its way.
And if Israel has its way, more will be forced out or killed.
The difference is Hamas have to cobble together their weapons from pruning hooks and plough shares, Israel commits murder on a vast scale with weapons from western arms sales.
Those same western arms sellers don't proscribe Israel as a state terrorist because it would make it difficult to continue supplying the weapons.
The western arms suppliers need the business.

If their ancestral homes have been flattened, then they are simply living in a bombed out building at best and you are suggesting that they preferr that to moving away and living in a normal house?
Several reasons. The normal house is never on offer.
The one that refuse to leave:
It's still their home even if they have been evicted and dispossessed. They hope for justice one day, and to be allowed to rebuild their shattered lives.
They prefer to die by the graves of their husbands, wives, mother, fathers, brothers, sisters, etc.

The one s that can't leave:
They're too ill. They would probably die en route.
They wouldn't be able to get far. And it is too far.
They'd be a liability to whoever is carrying them.
There is nowhere safe for them to go.
The directions from Israel are confused and not trusted.
The refugee camps are full and have no room.
They know from experience they'll be moved again in a day or so.

and they still won't release the hostages

when they release the hostages and surrender the hamas terrorists, the world will help the Palestinians get back on their feet, I would willingly chip in a few quid like probably everyone else

Lol, with all the millions they were given!! They spent it on building tunnels and rocket pads and making their leaders millionaires!!

And surrender their last vestige of gaining a cease fire?
Without the hostages, Netanyahu will order total destruction on Gaza and the West Bank.
Although it looks like he has so little concern for the hostages, he's ordered total destruction anyway.

And what did Israel do with the millions they were given?
They built a war machine.
Between 1946 and 2024, it has received $228 billion in military aid from the United States, making it the greatest recipient in history.

Military aid was coordinated throughout the war, at monthly meetings of Israel's Defense Coordination Group. The United States has been a major contributor to Israel providing significant military aid

Yes, that's the one. Nearly 20 years ago now.
