Mandatory ID cards (Brit Card) to be announced tomorrow

I went to a talk once about the IOT. There'd been a recent story in the news of two babies getting accidentally swapped at the hospital, and the speaker said hey - why not have a system where newborns had an RFID chip implanted immediately after birth. Parents would see it happen and there'd be no more swapping accidents.

The "yeah, great idea" initial reaction in the audience lasted about 2s before the "no, wait, hang on a minute" reaction took over.
haha can you imagine!
i am a strong advocate for home births (as well as home schooling, etc). babies don't get swapped at home either.
hospitals can't be trust with babies (or healthcare for that matter). a friend of mine had his baby taken from him as soon as he was born and they stuck a needle in him with no warning. by the time my friend got to stop them it was done. his child is now into his teens and has had seizures his whole life. was it the cause? who knows! but nobody with the means to generate evidence is going to be motivated to do it, that much we do know.

Digital ID is already happening. All the luddites insisting you're going to have to be forcibly chipped and saying they'll start employing illegal immigrants in protest wont stop that.

Once it's built then it isn't going to be scrapped. Whoever is in power next will make some trivial change and pretend they've met their stupid and self destructive promises.
i assume you are referring to me. but you are wrong, that does not apply to me. i have no digital ID. i do not carry a phone or fall for all the traps that you are referring to. when i go out i have cash and keys, nothing else.
i do agree with you that it will take more than that to stop them though. i was joking with my comments, maybe it wasn't obvious since i speak "luddite". but if we all just refuse then that will stop them. they can't enforce it if nobody does it.

personal carbon allowances anyone ?
before you know it - it will be attached to your bank and if you try to book a flight --- sorry you do not have enough personal carbon credits left for the year --- but you can buy some extra (of course )

Read the thread, or an article about it. I'm not going to retype it all.

That really isn't how it works.

You said

For a start it's a digital ID so you don't need to carry it.

So I asked you if I don't carry it, where is it?

What should happen then is you answer that question, not tell people to find the answer themselves and complain that it's boring to have to show how your claims are true.

From where I'm standing it looks as if "you don't need to carry it" isn't true.

Maybe, but it has been explicitly stated that the police won't be allowed to demand to see ID.

It was also explicitly stated that income tax was temporary. And that electricity from nuclear power stations would be so cheap that it wouldn't be worth charging for it.

So I asked you if I don't carry it, where is it?
this is another problem with it. they are telling people they don't have to carry it, but it will be on their phones, which most people will want to carry. then by the time the next generation come along they won't even know any different, they will just think this is what life is. try telling them not to carry their phones.
they won't even realise that they will be consenting to the abuse. it's crazy how often we consent to this kind of abuse! looking at you covid...

Whenever the words "for your convenience" are uttered - that is the warning sign.

Same.

I'm tracked and traced every day, whether I like it or not.

I'm not going without a phone. Not going without debit and credit cards, and I like to travel so I'm keeping the passport too.

Not getting rid of my car, or my savings accounts. Happy to not pay my taxes , but I seem to be on their list and can't get myself off it.

Not too concerned about my Tesco, nectar and other "reward" cards but they bring me more benefits than problems so I will keep them for a while.

My NHS number is useful, as is my N I number occasionally.

And every time I want to order anything they want some details to prove that I am who I say I am, so unless I want to go and live in the forest without any services and not buy anything then tomorrow will be the same as today and yesterday.

Well im not having an I.D. card no way....unless the government make me
