Fujifilm Cameras

I can see where you are coming from now with lugging gear around. I can imagine it is something that would become tiresome and make you think, sod it. I dont want to get to that stage where I cant be bothered so maybe a fixed lens is the answer?
iPhone will beat most fixed lense/bridge cameras.

Found the camera for me. I think you will agree this is the ultimate camera.

No really sorry, i dont think its ultimate camera at all - you asking for advice - thats mine , I'm really happy for you to ignore it , its your money and your call on what you get , and if you post i happy to give you my honest opinion , which is all it is

On paper the OM1 is a better camera, as is the mkii , but heavier (which i researched and made suggestions in previous posts ) - so they also apply to the OM-3

depends on the criteria now, what is it now ?

was - Wildlife, street, landscape , night
is it now , looks & Style & compact easy to carry around ??

a small compact camera my be more suitable, like the
PanasonicLumix DC-TZ99
OR your iphone 13 (the 17 has a better camera setup )

for the OM-3 you will also need all the lenses as mentioned & flash gun, or just use the iphone or PanasonicLumix DC-TZ99

Comparison of Use-Cases for the Three Cameras

Here are the three models again for reference:
Here’s how they compare for different photographic / video scenarios:

Use-CaseBest Camera & Why
Wildlife / Action PhotographyOM-1 Mark II or OM-1. The Mark II offers very good IBIS (stabilisation), fast burst shooting, and strong autofocus — great for fast-moving subjects. (photographyblog) Also, the original OM-1 is very capable for action, especially if you already own one and want a workhorse.
Travel / Street PhotographyOM-3. Its smaller, lighter, and retro body makes it ideal for travel. Reviewers note its compactness and design make it very portable. (Les deux pieds dehors) Also, the OM-3 has the creative “computational photography” dial / button that gives quick access to Live ND, High-Res, etc., which is great for creative travel shots. (techpoweredgamers.com)
Video (Cinematic / Hybrid)OM-3 or OM-1 Mark II, depending on your priorities: - OM-3: Has new “OM Cinema” video profiles (Cine 1 & Cine 2) for more stylised looks. (techpoweredgamers.com) - OM-1 Mark II: Very solid video AF, USB webcam support, vertical video support. (Lucky Racing Live) However, note that none of these are “high frame-rate 4K” machines — they max around 4K 60p. (Lucky Racing Live)
Landscape / Long ExposuresOM-1 Mark II or OM-3: Both support Live ND modes which help simulate ND filters and allow long exposures easily. OM-3 is especially good for creative long exposures thanks to fast access. (techpoweredgamers.com) OM-1 Mk II also supports Live GND (graduated ND) via computational features. (photographyblog)
Low Light / IndoorOM-1 Mark II: Because of its strong image stabilisation (IBIS), it's very capable in low light handheld. OM-1 is also very good, but Mark II gives a little extra margin.
Everyday / Travel B-CamOM-3: Very lightweight, compact, with good battery life and creative flexibility — ideal for a carry-around second body. Reviewers note how well-suited it is for “always-with-you” photography. (TechRadar)

⚠️ Trade-offs & Considerations

  • The OM-3, while light and stylish, has a smaller EVF than the Mark II. (photographyblog)
  • It also has only one SD card slot, which could be a concern for more serious / professional shooters. (photographyblog)
  • The OM-1 Mark II is heavier and more “pro” in feel (larger grip), which is great for long sessions or big lenses, but perhaps less portable. (techpoweredgamers.com)
  • For very high-speed action, although burst rates are strong, check buffer performance depending on whether you shoot in electronic shutter or mechanical — this can affect how many continuous frames you can take.

Agree.

You could spend hours and £££'s on lighting or faffing and waiting (outdoors) for the optimum shot, only for some hairy arsed influencer to upstage you with a spontaneous click. The days of amateurs lugging bulky camera equipment about, died along with the advent of incredible smart phone digital imaging tech.

Don't get me wrong, I am not ignoring any of your help who has given it on here, in fact I have done the opposit and taken all of your advice, MBK and yourself has helped out with my decision. I took from it all that everyone has given up due to weight and size and bulk of the gear that you all have. I turned my research into micro four thirds for this reason and the OM3 has got rave reviews, it is an OM1 Mk2 in a smaller body.

Don't get me wrong,
i wasn't , just aware, my posts would appear negative, and hence my comments

Whats you new criteria then - JUST compact and weight

if you do decide on the OM-3 - its not so much the body , it the lens that matters the most

Then if you buy a camera Om-3 Om-1 PEN-F etc with an interchangeable lens, you will end up with at lease 2 maybe 3 lenses , as you will get just as frustrated as you are now with the iphone

No you are not coming accross as negative att all. I just feel my phone isnt really what I would consider as a photographic hobby. I am wanting to do better than I can with my phone. My phone isn't that great as far as the camera goes, I broke a glass lens on it a while ago, had it replaced and it hasnt been the same since.

The OM3 is a superb camera and I have watched hundreds of videos on it. I havent come accross a bad review of it yet. Looks retro following on from the original Olympus film models of the 70s but packed with technology and sophisticated hardware.

The OM3 is equally good at erything in photography, it is excellent for the genres that interest me, landscape, wildlife and night photography inc street style. Am I missing something as this is new to me so I may have mis enterpreted some things? Because it is micro fur thirds the lenses are smaller and lighter than the full frame equivelent.

Not sure, you will need 2 maybe 3 lens

just like the OM-1 details

look back at the OM-1 again videos and note the difference and if that matters

- What lenses did they have on when you watched those hundreds of videos ????????

M.Zuiko 12‑40 mm f/2.8 PRO: - Versatile standard zoom. for Street, Landscapes , portrates
M.Zuiko 12‑40 mm f/2.8 PRO II:

M.Zuiko 40‑150 mm f/2.8 PRO: Telephoto zoom, good for portraits, wildlife, action

those 2 lenses will give you a range of 24mm - 300mm

this may be small enough to just carry around M.Zuiko 25 mm f/1.2 PRO: - street photo (50mm used to be standard lens on most camera for years)

then you need flash gun at the least to use as a fill in flash for portraits - or when darker
maybe a tripod for landscapes and groups of people

so now you are back to carry loads of ear

the small aperture is quite important and you will see cheaper versions with apertures on azoom that maygo from f5.6 to f10 - thats quite limiting

remember the ratio between camera speed and aperture , important for low light , action

No need for the tripod with the OM3 for most things as it has 7 stops of ibis?

ok, as far as hand holding and depends how series you want to get , I use a tripod for landscapes , setup the and compose the shot , then maybe wait for the right light / sunlight etc - used with remote control
group shots of family etc, can put on timer and get into shot
Night shots to get light streams , etc
Waiting for that bird to move on a branch - or even come to a branch - or waiting for any other animals

but its not a priority by any means - just i prefer to use one
