Trump is suing the BBC for Ten Billion USD.

the right wing populists, Tory and Reform want to control the media..........they already do control 90% of it

and Reform dominate social media -with thousands of accounts from russia and nigeria

the reason for the hate campaign against the BBC is they cant control it, same as channel 4

the ficko Reform supporters on here are too naive to see they are being subjected to a concerted propaganda campaign
I'm relatively confident that should Reform form the next government, we'll start to get the same rhetoric here that we currently see from Trump. i.e. anything reported that he doesn't agree with tends to get labelled as fake news. I can already see Farage et al. doing exactly the same.

Meanwhile, back on-topic... this lawsuit is from Donald Trump personally, seeking compensation for the harm the BBC caused him as an individual.

There's still a chance the US government could take action against the BBC and the UK government that runs it, for election interference as a foreign nation illegally meddling in the US. I hope so, it would be amusing.
Interesting view.

Does it work for them interfering in ours?

It's already happening.

Look at his response to the accusations made against him

The US govt has expressed concerns about Starmer and has also stated factual things that the UK govt is doing, e.g. censorship. All truthful, and all expressing concern that their once reliable ally is looking very dodgy on the world stage.

Trump has not fabricated a video in which Starmer appears to say something he didn't.

If you read the points in the claim, they set out their arguments clearly. The Beeb are claiming no jurisdiction, IMO point 16 is a stretch and that is the beebs best hope. Of course any beeb employee corresponding in Florida, might hole that defence.

The full claim is here:

Some talking head ex lawyer on the beeb said any judgement couldn’t be enforced as the maximum damages here are 300,000 US dollars.

So no case no jurisdiction no enforcement

I'd guess that Obama was asked to state that by someone in our govt, they wanted a cool kid to tell us what to do.

Remoaners bang on about one banner on a bus. The Remain brainwashing was way more ridiculous, but done more cleverly so stupid people couldn't spot it. There was an episode of Doctor Who just before the vote where earth got invaded but the other planets wouldn't help us defend ourselves because we'd previously decided to leave the interplanetary alliance.

He doesn't need the judgement enforced in the UK - He could seize any property belonging to the Beeb in the US.. e.g. cameras, computers etc etc. He'd need a lot to get to his number.

maybe the goal is to exclude their reporters

As I said point 16 has to do some heavy lifting and point 1 -4 also needs to stick.

Naive to say the least.
