Do any of the lefties here have advice for others when faced with the drunken ribbing or even hostility you're going to get from family members this Christmas?

Perhaps you even instructed some to vote Labour, we lefties all know how vulnerable people often need instructing how to vote, whether they asked for advice or not. These people may feel let down by you.

I'll be chuckling at the ones who maintain there were no Jews in Israel before 1948, whilst celebrating the birth of a Jew born in Bethlehem over two thousand years ago.

What about those that aren't lefties but don't want to listen to the rubbish spouted about reform?

A friend from my local was moaning about this on Monday night. He said he was being forced to go round for a family gathering on Xmas Day but wasn't looking forwards to it because "half of the family are lefty w*nkers". He's ex Hells Angels, Scottish and very forthright with his views. Under strict orders from SWMBO to keep his drinking to the minimum so he doesn't react and embarras her.

Light the blue touch paper!!

I m under those very orders myself. I will find it difficult to curb the drinking though.

Yes, not an easy one being forced to spend time with some family members that we might normally give a wide berth to rest of the year. Especially with the Christmas cheer going down in large quantities. I'm fortunate it's just me going around to my Mum's this year. Can't see it kicking off unless the cat tries to climb the tree again.:LOL:

Was there a recognised state of israel before 1948?

There were of course plenty of jews before then in Palestine.

Of course not, we both know that, nor was there a recognised state of Palestine, we both know that.

In Judea & Samaria, and later after the Romans evicted most of the Jews they existed in Syria Palestina. The word Palestina was taken from 'Phillistine' who were historical enemies of the Jews, the Romans did that for a laugh.
