A friend from my local was moaning about this on Monday night. He said he was being forced to go round for a family gathering on Xmas Day but wasn't looking forwards to it because "half of the family are lefty w*nkers". He's ex Hells Angels, Scottish and very forthright with his views. Under strict orders from SWMBO to keep his drinking to the minimum so he doesn't react and embarras her.

I don't care what anyones political stance is, it is rarely discussed in my circle of friends, might make a few comments about Trump but apart from that I certainly wouldn't fall out with anyone over them. I believe everyone has a right to their own beliefs wether that is politics or religion, just doesn't affect me in the least.

Again, not in my experience. Right wingers seem to trigger themselves very readily. The mere thought of immigrants or trans people seems to set them off.
