Has Trump Finally Lost His Marbles?

Maybe he was just being polite to Starmer when they met.

After all, Starmer virtually invented the u-turn. So if changing your mind is a measure of sanity, Starmer is stark raving mad.

Giving away strategically important territory and lorry loads of our cash does seem to be bonkers in the extreme.
No, both Trump and Rubio trumpeted (see what I did) the deal as excellent back in May.

PS Labour followed through on a 2022 Rishi Sunak plan by the way.

Yep, he was previously being diplomatic to keep an ally happy. It was strange to say it was a good deal, as it obviously is utterly stupid. Now he's given up caring about little Kier's feelings. so is saying what he really means. Good.
that sums it up nicely

I've never thought so. It was clearly agreed with the support of Trump, though. The only reason for us having the islands is for the USA to have a base. The only argument being made which I can sort of understand, is that it gives certainty and stops China sniffing around for the next 99 years. But I have not seen anyone explain that issue very well. What was Trump thinking when he signed off on this.
Do you think Trump endorsed it because Starmer asked him to?

Trump seems to know its Starmer's achilles heel.

US Presidents don't do favours when it comes to issues like critical military bases. Biden was in agreement. But Starmer delayed the deal to get Trump's approval. Lammy said they wouldn't sign it without the nod from Trump. I don't know what US thought was in it for them, but they must have thought it was good for them. Trump's motive now isn't clear. The best explanation I have read today is that he is equating Mauritius' claim to the Chagos Islands with Denmark's claim to Greenland. And if he can make the argument about Mauritius having no rights, then he thinks he can do the same with Denmark.

It is a good deal for the US. We are paying more to rent it, than the US is paying us.

Forget about the money. It's chicken feed to the US. Just look at the national security aspects. Why did US go along with it when it is so critical to them.

What are you waffling about now?

UK lawyers don't work for free boyo.
 why do you need a lawyer if there is no court with teeth?

Imagine mrs Nosenout wants out and we have no family law courts to order you to give her a share. She says give me the house, you say no. What happens next?

When they want to take it for themselves who is the tougher opponent? U.K. nato member and top 10 in the world or Mauritius who rank…. They don’t even have an army
