Best bank accounts.

Marcus only lets you have one linked account. I think you can only transfer out to that account, usually the one you sent the money from. So at least they make it safe in one direction.

I really like that feature on Marcus. Some of our other accounts do the same thing.

We sold our last house about 5 months before we bought again. Had a scary amount in the bank, it looked more like a phone number than a bank balance.

I had to keep checking to make sure it was still there. We did split it out to get under the FSCS limit, it was terrifying transferring it via online banking, I have never looked so carefully at a bank account number and sort code before hitting the OK button.
Is that where you got your user name from? :ROFLMAO:

Pretty sure most of our accounts are like that. Can only pay in and take out to our joint main account.
Post Office
Premium Bonds
Nationwide ISA
Kent Reliance
Shawbrook
Vanquis

Other ones, such as Chase, Monzo, Nationwide bank, Barclays have our other accounts as saved payees. I always send a tenner to a new account first and save it as a payee. When I know it’s all sorted, I send the balance. Post office is a bit slow paying out and gave me a fright once - if you do the transfer before 12.00 midday, it’s in by the following morning. After 12.00 midday, it’s the day after that so you have a rather large sum come out of your account and hang about in no man’s land for up to 36 hours. Do it on a Thursday afternoon and you won’t see your money until Monday!

Does anyone else feel really uncomfortable moving money to a new bank?

I wouldn't go chasing the best rate with some unknown bank or a foreign bank in a dodgy country. Some of the foreign ones have very traditional names but are actually in Pakistan or Nigeria. We mainly try stick to well known British building societies and banks, even if they pay a little bit less.

Iceland used to be very popular.
