Drove to Stratford upon Avon today down some lovely country lanes but I’ve never seen so much fly-tipped rubbish. It’s a disgrace. You’d think it would be less of a problem round these parts but it definitely isn’t. Only problem with being remote is it’s just taken me just over half an hour in the car to get a packet of biscuits and some chocolate.

Today I’ve been helping out over my allotment - fitting a new covering on the huge communal poly tunnel. It wasn’t just a matter of one off, one on either - the bottom of the cover is dug about a foot into the ground and it all had to be dug out. Being the youngster at 62 years old, I got all the heavy work as well as the high level stuff to do. There were 10 of us altogether and we managed to get it all done just before it lashed down with rain although my back feels like it’s broken in half right now! So, what have you lot been doing today?

Mostly boring compared to that. Spent the day fixing small things around the house, loose hinge, leaking tap, then a grocery run that took longer than it should. Nothing dramatic, but it felt good to tick stuff off. Your day sounds like real work, digging and lifting at 62 is no joke.

6 years later and it’s not gotten any easier!

We came away on our Cotswold break with the beginnings of a sore throat. That’s turned into a hacking cough - my ribs are killing me through coughing. We had booked to go to a nice restaurant in Stratford tonight for our last night here but we’ve cancelled it. We went to Cheltenham today, had a bit of a look around and bought some food from Marks' so we'll be dining in tonight instead. We parked in the weirdest multi-storey car park. Had to go to the top floor to find a space but feck me, they had the smallest ramps going up and down with the tightest of turns and I had to practically do a three point turn in the Tucson to get onto them - even then the parking sensors were screaming at me and we were just waiting for the crunch of bumper or spoiler at each turn. The walls were battle scarred with damage from other cars over the years. We had planned to visit Broadway today too on our way back but we decided to give that a swerve and go straight back to the cottage. TBH, if I hadn’t have booked and paid £130 for a taster pottery making session tomorrow on our way home, we may have even gone home tonight.
