I said it was because we didnt want them to know that he had been drinking and thought it was best to just swap ourselves over as I was able to do the call out and he wasnt fit to do it.

they knew. Our gaffer sent them an email stating that we are two exemplary workers, the head of technical services sent an email stating we are valuable members of the teamhopefully you emphasised the impossible situation you were put in.

Well you wouldn’t expect that would you? Nobody does….yes they did, it was like the spannish inquisition

you are supposed to ring the duty manager to inform himIs there a procedure for someone to report unfit while on-call, in the middle of the night?

our duty manager would have sussed him out straight away, he knows us too well. He sounded pizzed when he rang me.is this written down?
I'm struggling with why your mate was not "suddenly unwell" following possible "food poising"? or was he so ****ed he would have finished the call with "I really love you".

we are not allowed anyone ringing in for us unless you are so seriously ill and hospitalised, its one of our rulesDoes he live with a wife or girlfriend. If so, could she have rung and said he was too poorly to come to the phone. Maybe next time!
Only wimps do thatyou are supposed to ring the duty manager to inform him
