A friend of our went through the same thing about 40 years ago. She's been vegetarian ever since. Strangely, she helps out on the local shoot. When I asked her what the difference is, she said that unlike most farmed meat, the pheasants lived every day like a wild bird until the day they died. Any birds that were not taken home at the end of the day, got feed to the foxes and badgers that come into her garden every night for their supper.I did some work on a small farm some years ago and it coincided with when the younger cows were taken and loaded onto a lorry. The mother cows spent the rest of the day crying, and I mean really desperately crying, the noise was awful. It took me several days at least to get over it.
