Phew, I got away with it again!

I did some work on a small farm some years ago and it coincided with when the younger cows were taken and loaded onto a lorry. The mother cows spent the rest of the day crying, and I mean really desperately crying, the noise was awful. It took me several days at least to get over it.
A friend of our went through the same thing about 40 years ago. She's been vegetarian ever since. Strangely, she helps out on the local shoot. When I asked her what the difference is, she said that unlike most farmed meat, the pheasants lived every day like a wild bird until the day they died. Any birds that were not taken home at the end of the day, got feed to the foxes and badgers that come into her garden every night for their supper.

I'd never be a vegetarian and on the whole I'm comfortable with farming animals for food. I'm just a bit of a baby when it comes to seeing the harsh reality of what's involved sometimes.

Farming animals is indeed ok imo...

It's the cruelty in the name of profit that is the problem...

Will you be happy to eat from any of this lot again?

"Major restaurant chains, including KFC, have ditched a commitment to improve chicken sourcing standards in the UK as poultry demand soars.

Eight restaurant groups, which also include the owners of Burger King and Nando's, have left the Better Chicken Commitment (BCC), in which they pledged to stop using fast-growing chickens, for an industry-led plan without that commitment"

(I wouldn't class them as 'restaurants')

But wasn't life after the EU supposed to bring in the better animal farming welfare conditions in the UK that we were promised?

True!

I was trying to show a picture of one with plenty of internal fat. Because most are bred so lean these days that the chops are pure muscle.

It would definably be better with some more fat left on round the top!

I just love a nice pork chop with apple sauce, mash and veg.
I’ll have a big pork chop if ones available when we are out for a meal. I can’t cook the fat properly myself. I always mange to over cook the meat

Steak, I can take or leave it. When it’s good, it doesn’t outweigh the many times it’s been average

Lamb!! Done well can change your life.

Yawn. Do you have to turn every thread into a Brexit one? Have you NOTHING else in your life you sad b'stard?

Strange thing to say, 'cos that there fillet steak has almost everything you should be looking for in a good fillet steak.
Came out very nice.

I also like the beef short rib. Salt on top in the oven with tinfoil on the top - long and low drain off loverly liquid fat that has rendered out ( save for Sundays spuds) then foil off to get a crispy top.

Says my own sad old troll

There's probably a reason that your meat had 'Not for the EU' on it...

Didn't make the grade...

But I guess you just don't like the truth!
