From 2015 to 2023, fossil fuel use in final energy across buildings, industry and transport in China fell by 1.7%. Use of electricity grew by 65%.
Battery storage investment in China rose 69% from H1 2024 to H1 2025, while grid investment rose 22%. China accounts for 31% of global clean energy investment.
Clean generation growth led by solar and wind met 84% of China’s electricity demand growth in 2024. In H1 2025 it exceeded demand growth, cutting fossil fuel use by 2%.
Projected Chinese solar manufacturing capacity in 2030 (1,255 GW) is 65% higher than global solar rollout in 2030 in the IEA’s Net Zero Roadmap (761 GW)

There is a theory that Chinese carbons emissions has just about peaked. Unless they get a sudden surge in demand, and have to install more coal power stations to keep up.
More generally, they tend to under promise and over deliver on these things.
Some very carefully cherry-picked deliberately misleading stats there!

Also, India is of course catching up on China, in terms of development, but they could by-pass much of the coal use that China has seen, as invest in renewables etc.
I was just thinking how impressive that graph is, until I looked at the x-axis and saw that it's three quarters made-up. That decline in coal hasn't even begun yet, and the rises in the others have barely started.

You still haven't explained why you were posting figures from France, claiming it was from the UK.
As I said earlier, China has a habit of under promising, and over delivering on these things. They have carbon reduction commitments.
They are not made up.
Is it guaranteed they will make that target? no. But given their track record, it looks achievable.

Going back through this thread, am I right in thinking that windbag John is crowing that wind power produced the greatest percentage of the UK's power needs during the night when no fecker needed it? How about showing the wind power percentages when the demand is regularly at its highest?
You know the power generated by wind turbines is stored overnight in batteries, right?
So when it’s released at times of greatest demand, you know that then it's not the same percentage of power being used, right?
It's really not. The French grid never runs at 10% nuclear. Think before you post.
I did think, I did spot that didn't make sense but the French country icon was odd, so I went to the site and clicked the button. That button takes you to the French grid page where nuclear power is around 45GW and 80% of the load.
