I am all for capital and corporal punishment, ...Violent offences such as agravated burglary and theft of cars etc, should be met with lashes of substansial proportions to inflict not just pain but to mark the offender.

All the innocent people who were wrongly convicted had people willing to swear blind they were guilty

Interestingly, the top cops put on the Yorkshire Ripper case were incompetent detectives, and failed to identify or catch him, despite numerous victim statements and photofits which looked like him. They had "earned" their brilliant reputation in the sweeney by remarkably high clear-up and conviction rates.

Obtained by planted evidence, falsified confessions, violence, and bribery.

We have moved on with both policing and technology since the yorkshire ripper days. Those days were all records on A to Z cards and communication was via telephones and tape recordings.

But the justice system in the courts, which is where the punishment is decided, is much the same as it's been for 1000 years.

Anyone who leaves me a thanks for this is most welcome to do so and is supporting my great work. Anyways this thread is not about me although that would make a great thread, this is about should we bring back good old fashioned disciplin which appears to have sliped in this country.
