Makerfield

Wez, who is supposedly on the right wing of the party, is trying to steal Burnam’s thunder with this policy on raising rates of CGTax to match income tax.

Context:
“Deleted posts on X show he appeared to cast doubt on the efficacy of a vaccine, interacted with a Dutch far-right influencer and praised Donald Trump.”
As I've already pointed out, casting doubt is not denying anything. I'm casting doubt on the sun coming out today, it doesn't mean I'm denying that the weather exists.

I don't take any notice of lefties banging on about anyone who they say is "far-right", as that often just means a non-lefty, perhaps someone who advocates actually having a border (shock, horror!).

On the subject of Wes saying the UK should rejoin the EU - whatever one's opinion, the argument by the anti-EU lobby that by rejoining we'd lose comtrol of our borders is a joke. Like we've had secure borders these last 10 years?
That's because we've remained in the ECHR and our politicians have been deliberately sabotaging the situation.

It’s the reverse, everyone who isn’t hard right/ far rigid is a lefty. Farrage has got to be at least a little worried about re store.

The few times I have been there people seem to have been calling it "Mare"kerfield.

With a bit of a Lancashire twang.

But Andy's a good guy. He's fixed the buses. Brought them back under public control.

He makes a plan and it happens.

When we moved here 27 years ago, there were 3 buses an hour in one direction at the bottom of our road. Then there were two. Then, before Andy got elected, it dropped again.

Now that single bus that did a relatively short linear route has been replaced with two buses that do two different extended circular routes serving bigger areas. And the frequency is on the up.

Then he abolished the 9.30 malarkey for concessions after a trial. Before this, if you had a concessions card, pensioner's bus pass etc, to travel before 9.30, you had to pay half fare. Now it's free.

As far as I'm concerned, Andy gets my vote.

Two things.

Burnham has gone on record for saying we shouldn't be in hock to the bond markets. Suggesting he's either a fantasist, or extremely financially illiterate. As he's a socialist I'm leaning heravily towards the latter.

And, even Mussolini made the trains run on time.

The bond markets own us, we're right at at limit of debt. If he becomes PM, they'll erupt in ways that will make the Truss episode look like a warm-up.

Look at a picture of Starmer and Burnham together - they look like brothers, or father and son. They look like they are cut from the same cardboard.

If he upped his game a bit in certain policy areas there would be no need for Restore and he would be swept into power in the next election.
Upping his game means going from hard right to pretty much far right. He's not stupid, and realises that would hit the significant number of right wingers who don’t want to machinegun inflatables in the channel.

“Those who pay the most need to pay more” who’d have thought.
