**** Democracy

You know the Zionists sing that too, right?
And the zionists are carrying it out...

Ethnic cleansing and land grabs in Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon...

Land grabs in Syria too...

Of course that's ok with the genocide supporters!

You're being disingenuous.

You know full well that you 'report' a post that contravenes forum rules - which forum rules did Morq' contravene in your opinion?
I don't think Morq contravened any rules, as I previously stated.
He reports posts that don't break the rules also.
Think of all the supposed anti-Semitism posts that have been deleted and posters excluded from the threads.
I don't think filly is the only one who abuses the report function, not by a long chalk.

When someone is being excluded from the forum because a clique finds their arguments difficult to oppose, then we're beginning to lose the most important aspect of any democracy: the ability to subject any claim to a crucible where the truth can be refined in the heat of debate without rendering it to a void where an arbitrary decision taken in silence can stifle such opposition as necessary to discerning this truth.

Everyone, of course, will have their own version of 'their truth', and will not be shaken from it but this doesn't mean others can pursue the argument and sift the wheat from the chaff; finding subtleties within nuances of that truth.

I've seen it written in the thread concerning the verdict in the Manchester trial where two of the jurors couldn't agree with the desired verdict from their peers, leading to one or two comments saying juries should be deposed, leaving judges free to make an arbitrary decision based upon the will of a majority. This would be a huge mistake, in contravention of centuries of tradition and precedent set by learned men (and women) who faced such pressure before these times when extreme views are taken into consideration in order to placate a mob demanding their version of justice.

You may recall the Daily Mail headline with regard to the judges decision on Bre*it. We should be vigilant that attitude doesn't overwhelm the democracy our ancestors fought so hard to preserve.
