Afternoon all!
I am not a roofer and would like some advice on some cracks I have noticed in my loft.
I had solar installed just over 1 year ago, 9 panels on each roof face (it is east west facing).
I was up there yesterday and noticed some cracks in the underpurlin ( I think that is what it is called - the horizontal 4x4 that runs along the middle of the roof height)
I am the kind of guy who would have noticed these if they were there before so I'm fairly saure they are new. Thy are on both sides of the beam but not always in the same position and pretty much all on the west facing side.

Should I be worried?

Thanks

They look like natural shakes rather than splits, but it does look like low quality timber and probably not C24.
Shakes apart - the hip corner junction is rubbish. The hip should have been thickened at the junction, to collect the whole of the purlin splayed plumb cut. We’d have fitted angle brackets too.

Thanks. The house was built in the 50s so I expect it was probably standard for the time.

I am relieved by the responses though. Thanks. Perhaps I'll have another look in 1 years time and check if they have got any bigger.

Thanks again
