New Asylum Seeker Housing Plans

Not so.

Climate change is one of, if not the biggest, drivers of migration.

If you want to make anyone up sticks and move, the surest way is to make where they currently are, uninhabitable.
I agree with that. But if China ain't going to curb its smoke, then im not going to scrap my diesel.

So climate activists are racist - is that what you are saying. They dont want the climate to change because they dont want brown people coming into the country.
That is the way that poisoned lefty brains work on here - is it not, when others say they want to clamp down on migration..

Well, yeah.
Our input to the whole clusterfuck is pretty small (<1%). If we take radical unilateral action, it's likely to hurt us.
We can afford to be ahead of the curve perhaps, but not by much.
China has statistics for everything, some of which make them look not so bad, but they're huge. It would be much worse if they had their own oil.

China is the biggest by 2x, USA is big per capita, along with Russia, Canada, Oz, Saudi.

UK is number 47 per capita, no 20 by amount.

We are already at the top of the list of reductions in more-polluting countries per annum, at -4%
All the big culprits are increasing theirs. Like India at +4%, and 10x as much by quantity as UK. US up by +0.3%, China +0.8%.

Having checked those numbers, the argument looks stronger.

It only takes a change of leadership for some of those countries : they're use of fossil fuels is not obligatory.

The septics for example : ideology, plus in the pockets of Big Oil.

Russia : not a lot else going for it.

China is a bit of an outlier, in that it has (to a degree) "taken one for the team" : what we an many other countries no longer emit, we outsourced to China when we outsourced our production.
But they would by biblically worse if they hadn't made such great strides in renewables.
