Confused about how to shop for modular bathroom units

Hi all,

I am currently planning for a DIY bathroom refurbishment and am starting to look around for products and supplies.

I am aiming to find something similar to the sink/toilet/storage unit you see in this image:

I have around 1350mm to play with.

In the past on my other bathroom project, I have only purchased a standalone vanity unit. For this project I'm looking for something that will fit from wall to bath without any gaps. I was just expecting to find a supplier online that will be able to supply me with a toilet unit, sink unit and narrow storage unit to make the best use of space of that back wall and then lose any additional space with a blanking filler piece that I can cut to size (likewise with the worktop, kickboard and side panel).

However, I'm really struggling to find this kind of thing online. Am I missing something? Or is this the sort of thing that I have to walk into a plumbers merchant to order?

Sorry if this a stupid question, I certainly feel stupid asking as I feel like I am misunderstanding how these sort of units are normally purchased.

Its not really a bespoke unit I am looking for. A bespoke unit suggests that it needs to be made to my requirements. I am looking to purchase a toilet unit, a sink unit and a storage unit to fit my space and then finish with appropriate blanking pieces and worktop that I can all cut to size myself. Much like you have in a kitchen.

Hudson Reed Fusion is one example, you can buy bathroom worktops seperately.

I would leave a gap to the bath though, don't have it tight.

Just thinking about this a little more. Is there actually any reason I shouldn't use kitchen units if I find something suitable?

Perhaps even it might be an option to cut the back of the carcasses to reduce the depth? Or maybe use kitchen wall units as I imagine they are shallower.

Any reason not to look into this option?

Out of interest, why leave a gap to the bath?

The bathroom is currently configured as you see in the photo. It has a bead of silicone between the bath and the unit.

When it is refurbished I plan to have a fixed shower screen which will proceed further than the front of the unit and then hinge open.

I'd be worried about being a bit of a nightmare to clean if I had a small gap.

Not really, but the bathroom ones come correctly configured for the relevant panel removal.

As above, what was the reason behind not having the unit right up the edge of the bath please?

Just for access to the bath screen and also, normally taps at that end. You need to seal the screen on the outside and if the units are tight to it you can't do it properly. I know you can fit and seal the screen first, but I prefer not to. If it develops a leak you can't access it.

Nothing stopping you of course.

Thank you, appreciate that, I just wondered if it might be a movement thing that I hadn't thought of.
