Vaillant ecoFIT pure 415 - Faulty Panel Seal

I contacted the company that identified the issue and they have quoted £156 to supply and fit a new panel. They are an approved Vaillant installer/repairer. Credit to them, they asked me to check if I could get it done under warranty, but that expired last year.

Personally, I'd put a co alarm in the room and leave it to see if there's any further deterioration at next service/repair event.

Was there to do a service and deemed there was no "unsafe situation" so left boiler operational and informed the responsible person.
We have no idea of the contractual obligations of the service engineer attending.
Wasn't questioning contractual obligations but if he had concerns and thought it was worth raising it with the customer I would have thought it would have been better to follow it up for him and advise while he was on site. That's what I would have done. Not leave it up the cust. to sort out,

Contractual obligations mean he may have been there as a service engineer for a national like homeswerve!

Not in his interest to escalate the "service"!

I speak from experience.

You might give them credit but personally I think the original guy should have made enqiries and identified that you need a new panel and fitted it as a return visit. Charging over £100 to complete the original visit seems a lot to me.
The original visit was a standard annual service of the boiler. I didn't call them out just to inspect the panel, he discovered it during the service.

Yes.
But by who?
"standard" has so many connotations.
It was an annual service by a local Vaillant approved installer. When I say “standard” I mean it was a general check to ensure there were no abnormalities. On this occasion, it seems there was!
