I agree that they should have made it clear that they had spliced the two clips together. I haven't seen the programme. I have no idea if it was balanced or not. Does anyone know if they make it clear, later in the programme, that they had spliced the intro? Trump seems to be fixated on that one clip. Bizarrely, he claims they used AI to put words in his mouth.
I still do not understand his initial claim that it lost him votes (electoral interference) and caused him reputational and financial harm. The programme did not air in the USA and any Americans living in the UK would have posted their ballots weeks earlier.
Much like his success in Venezuela buoyed him to attack Iran, I suspect that his wins against ABC et al convinced him to after the BBC. The key difference is that the other media firms paid out because he made it clear that he might revoke their broadcast licences and block their mergers. The BBC have no such incentive to roll over.
A total of 570,000 people watched the episode on iPlayer in the year after it was released (some of those would have watched it more than once or only watched bits of it). 285 are from IP addresses that could have been based in America, and 34 of those were from Florida, where the case is being heard. It is possible that no one in Florida watched the programme in the USA before the election. Trump won Florida by 13.1%
