Yes, intent is crucial and often trumps the nitpicking of the meaning of words.
 
Obvious example of:-
One 20A radial with a single "portable solar panel" as allowed.
An unrelated circuit changing a battery.

Call them circuit 1 and circuit 2 if you like.
You have a sensor nearby the solar panel on circuit one but not connected to either electrically or physically .
The sensor is in circuit 2 and signals the battery to start or stop its charging cycle in some alignment with sunshine present.
Could you cause the battery and solar panel to align sufficiently to coincide to agree to make some gain and if you could then is it worth going to the time and expense to have any real benefit.
It would not surprise me if somebody actually tried it.
 
DIY plug in solar isn't compliant if it charges a grid connected battery, the words, and intent, are clear. People will try all sorts of things when they really shouldn't.

Dinorwig Power Station is connected to the national grid, so since that is considered as a battery, your statement would mean no plug in solar is compliant.

I know that is not what you mean, but it does point out the words and intent are not clear.

As far as I can see, there is nothing to stop me plugging in some solar panels, even when I already have a legal battery installed.

I would think for me to have plug in solar, I would technically need to complete a G99, but I am not sure about that?

Since as it stands, I have no intension of adding more solar, it does not matter which form, as not filling in any of them, but I am sure there are clear instructions as to what is required with every kit.

Yes agreed, but can I have plug in solar, when I already have a battery? I know we are allowed plug in batteries, the V2G EV plug and socket is legal, so we have to say BS 1363 plug in solar, as there is nothing stopping someone driving an EV motor caravan up to there V2G EV socket and plugging in solar panels and battery it is only with the BS 1363 socket that batteries are not allowed.

Also, we can have BS 1363 plug in batteries, as long as they don't use the plug to reverse flow the energy. Power packs to with solar can be plugged in have been around and legal for a long time, just not allowed to back feed.

They even grid-sync so can seamlessly swap from mains to battery during a power cut, often called an UPS, although some are not quite so fast to change over, so are called an EPS. It is only the back feeding which is not allowed with anything but solar with a BS 1363 socket.

I know it is confusing, which is the main problem, we know we can only use solar kits to back feed into BS 1363 sockets, but just leave out BS 1363, and it all goes up the creak.

So as far as I am aware, you can have a V2G EV socket to which you can connect a battery able to back feed into the grid as the same time as a BS 1363 socket with solar panels which back feed into the grid.

Oh what a tangled web we weave.

The product specification says BS 1363, just don't pretend it isn't there and it is clear
