Hi

I have read the stickies but to no avail, I have about a 10mm heght difference between my lounge/dining room and kitchen,

I have laid a screed which has settled at about 2-2.5mm I also have some compacted wood insulation and damp proof to lay which will add about another 7 to start but over time i think it will settle and compress to about 5.

Am laying laminate flooring on top, would i be ok to to lay damp proof then a layer of 3-4 mm ply sheets before the laminate?

Don't forget the 3mm you need between plywood and laminate for sound-insulation underlayment.

If you're planning to fill the rest of the 'gap' with plywood so when the laminate is installed it is on one level, you have to keep in mind that the sound-insulation underlayment you need between the plywood (subfloor) and the laminate takes up 'space' too (2 -3 mm) = hence calculate the 'gap' first, deduct the thickness of the laminate and the 2-3mm underlayment to see how thick your plywood needs to be.

Ah see now,

I had thought of that

Damp proof material = 1mm

Insulation on a test has compressed to about 4.5 - 5mm

i still think it needs to be about 3 mm thick,

Was aware of the gap calculation just wasn't sure if it was advisable to use ply as a subfloor,

On another note is it best to fix it I.e bolt it to concrete? or leave it floating?

and should there be a gap in between the sheets and walls, (no longer have skirting board up) or but it hard against each other
