A customer has asked for this. Never had to consider it before any suggestions, how, kit etc.

Would be very grateful

microswitch screwed to the top of the cupboard and use low voltage lights.. just break the 12v side..

best to put "soft close" piston things on too so you don't knacker the switch by slamming the door on it..

great, thanks lads. Any prefered brand for the job, do these things run off a transformer per chance??

God - everyone is making it complicated!

Get a mains rated switch - I will take a photo of mine. Jeanie is the make I believe.......

photo later........

Just seen your link RF - That one we have used often - It is for the hinge side, and needs recessing like a lock, and the cable entry is crap, and not alot of room.....

The one I have is alot easier.......

I will take a pic later.

Thanks for the suggestions; perhaps I should have been a little bit clearer, these babies look a little on the large side to me.

What she would like is to open her cupboards (deep corner units) under the kitchen work surface and for a light to come on.

It is a new kitchen, units are 900mm (I think)

I suppose these could be used but she obviously just wants small lighting unit.

Any further suggestions? I particularly would like to avoid a transformer unit, have thought about small strip lighting similar to that in caravans/ under unit lights with a feed from the ring to FCU.

It is just not any thing i've ever had to consider before!!!

Many suppliers of kitchen carcasses can supply of recommend suitable lamps and switches for thier cupboards. Though they may be a bit on the expensive side as they are in the "luxury" department
