Picture of the week!™

Ah, yep, I can see that now.

You would assume they would take the earth the same route as the tails!

It will be a simple matter to insert a suitable rated MCB breaker into the RCD enclosure, there appears to be two unused slots in it - you could suggest it to the client..

Reminds me of this one I found, Rob...

If you're talking about mine, there is no overcurrent/SC protection to the SWA cable - it is tapped straight off the 100A supply.

The DNO get most upset if their fuses are used as the over current protection

In electrical design terms yes, but as far as the DNO are concerned no. It's the same as 16mm tails feeding a 63amp fused switch from a 600amp bus bar.

The fused switch is the over current protection for the circuit being fed so the 16mm tails from the bus bar should never be over loaded. The DNO view the CU and it's breakers/fuses as the over current protection for installation so the tails should never be over loaded.

They put a limit of a few metres without additional overload protection

I seem to remember something about all earth and bonding marked in y/g so even a colour blind sparky can see if the wrong cable is connected to the meb
