What repair jobs on a boiler can only be legally repaired by a corgi person ?

Any competent person can work on their own boiler, but being Corgi doesn't mean you can work on any boiler, unless you are individually registered. For example if you are registered with a heating Company, you cannot noonlight at the weekend

Nope  you just need to be competent to work on your own boiler.

Corgy's main man at the kennel club said in a letter that quote, " Diy gas in this Country is not a problem"

B&Q being on the Corgi Council has nothing to do with the statement.

lol . i dont mind changing electric parts but gas valves and other gas parts i dont really understand ( but most electricians dont lol ) :D

Anyone can say they are competent......But the only way to prove it is by
passing all the relevant gas courses..

It all depends on what the legal definition of Competent is doesn't it? We all think that we are competent but the ACS and Corgi registration proves that we are competent to work on gas appliances that we have a module in... It does not prove that we know how to fix stuff, simply that we can do the work safely and can work to the legal requirements. Therefore if you have not passed your ACS and are therefore not corgi registered for the type of appliances that you are working on, or gas being used (in my case LPG) then you are regarded as "Not yet Competent"

agreed, its not doing the job for yourself that is a problem,

its trying to explain,
in what way you thought you were competent ?

when you are standing outside the smouldering ruins of what used to be your house.?

or worse placing flowers on the graves of your loved ones.

yes you thought you were competent :?:

but surely changing a pump or pcb isnt going to blow the boiler up ? is it . then again my local garage says only a trained mechanic should change brake pads !

its about knowing the difference

a pump wont have any component that can affect the flame safety and management.

a pcb could

Perhaps the pump/PCB analogy is more like the spark plugs/windscreen wipers.

I could, technically, change any part of course but only someone with a death wish and without the correct training would do it themselves...? I would always call in a Corgi man....this shouldn't even be a debate should it ?

supose its like micpwelsh says the plumb centre wont sell u gas parts if ur not corgi regestered , but i phoned them to find out and they will sell you fans , pumps , pcbs , clocks just not gas parts !

gaz you change your own brake pads in a car and your insurance company might not pay up if you crash ! , supose its the same if you blow up your home
