Hi not to sure if i have uploaded the picture correctly .
If I have then, Does anyone know what CU can be used to replace this ugly old thing.
Due to it being in a small cupboard the size is limited.

Many thanks.

I am assuming the picture is on its side!

What is the actual dimensions?

Looks like the majority of 10way split load boards would fit in there for width, but height is limited by the meter.....which could be moved easily (by the DNO or cheeky spark).

There is some unused off-peak circuits on the left handside which are redundant, and will free up space.

it looks attached to the meter board, which the DNOs do not like (they own the board and are entitled to remove or replace it at whim)

But that old Wylex Standard is very wide. When you measure it I am sure you will find you have room for a good big modern one.

Do you still use off-peak supply?

wylex do split load skeleton boards(fits straight in on the existing rails).careful though, there is two different sizes(width).mk also make them but there not as good imo

Is that a PME supply you have there?
It looks very similar to my own one, the incoming supply is PME, with a nice shiny earth terminal at the right of the service fuse holder block.

The off peak supply looks long gone. The metering is not off peak.

The meter cab may not be a DNO owned one. If looks larger than a standard one.

Hi

It is a friends CU, He called out his supplier to have the meter moved as an electrician told him it couldn't be changed with that meter where it is.
When a guy from the supplier come out he said he wasn't going to move it and to get a board to fit in its place & told him there are ones out there that fit direct in.
When he called his supplier to complain at what happened he was told there was nothing they could do if the electrician did that then that's fine,

Lets say he was not a happy man,

He wants it changed because he wants an electric shower and is having the kitchen refitted and they wont do it unless an RCD is in place though charging £300 just to put an RCD on the kitchen circuit.

So i advised him that it would be better to have the whole lot changed and undated, certainly if he wants a shower also.

The dimensions are 16cm from door to back wall, top to bottom is 19cm and the length is 44.5cm.

Thanks for putting the picture up right Lectrician, lol,

Sorry its so long,

:D

at the risk of repeating myself, its called a skeleton board and all wholesalers can get them in a day or two.for that size of cabinet, the board will be a 5+5 split load with rcd.it will drop straight in place of the old one .

it does come with a plastic cover to stop you getting your hand underneath, which is not shown in the pic

Hey guy's

Thank you very much for your help and the links.
I will enjoy the beer he promised if I was to find out, :D

Thanks again.

Could we possibly have of photo of the new CU fitted in the cabinet once it's done.

Would be nice to have as a reference in the wiki.

For the record, these boards are not attached to the chipboard, but to the metal work of the cabinet, which should be earthed (if not already).

There are 2 metal ducts, one each side of the cabinet, often used to run cabling in.

EDIT: Have trawled through my Wylex e-brochure and can find part numbers for skeleton units, but not dimensions for them. :?

A 5/5 Split-load unit is: FA LNSES 5506

An 11 way with 100A incomer (for mcb's & RCBO's) is: FA LNS 1106

Try 0161 998 5454 for dims. Ask for Wylex tech.

RF lighting I will bookmark this topic and try to remember to get a photo.

Thanks to every one again.
