inserts on plastic pipe ????

I'm fairly new to all this plumbing lark and my question i think is simple

Do you always need to use inserts on the white plastic pipe ?

I thought you did as good practice but others i speak to have never.

Any thoughts please ?
 
Thanks for that, i'll forward that on.

In his defence he said he bought a multi pack of connections for ScrewFix. About £100 worth of every elbow , T piece ect you could want but it contained no inserts to which he said if you needed them then they would have been includedso started to wonder he may have a point.... :roll:

i didn't have an answer to that one :D
 
perhaps screwfix sell the packs for people to use copper pipe and push-on fittings, hence no inserts :shock:
