HERE all the GAS ADVICE you could ever want

This the main reason I no longer write articles for them or contribute any answers as I told the list owner over and over there is no valid reason at all to tell a DIY to fiddle with gas

DIY gas work is not illegal in England and Wales, as long the person doing the work is competent.

For example, an RGI who is registered as an employee, and therefore covered only during working hours, is allowed to work on an appliance in his own home.

Mr Tieger you may or may not be aware we had a spate some time back with a certain set of individuals who were hell bent on encouraging diy gas spouting the cause, using the definition of the term competant incorrectly as its a legal term set out in the GSIUregs as is the term work.

No I did not know about the problem with posters RE gas as I am new to this list (gas fitters)

Only someone "softinthehead" gives gas advice, job site unseen and not knowing the local codes or the ability of the person asking the question over the net.

These "soft minded" people also hide behind phoney names, very common practice for misfits or those with no qualifications, they can hide and act as experts spewing all kinds of inept Crap as gospel

They really have nothing to offer so they just post for the sake of posting as they live very miserible lifes knowing they are failures, sad actually to be so "softheaded".

The only advice I do give regarding gas is for informational purposes not how to do an installation. The advice given is to help apprentices learn how to calculate piping sizes when the appliance is missing the BTU rating. Many times for example someone will remove the boilers plate and then the actual BTU INPUT is not known.

Some folks not up to speed base the BTU on out put whch can of course to lead to some very dangerous situtions such as incomplete combustion.

I am located in NYC (Riverdale) a few blocks from the Majestic Hudson River, 15 minutes from Connecticut and 7 minutes from New Jersey

This is another reason "softinthehead" folks cannot give a correct answer as they are not aware of the specific gravity of the natural (manufactured) fuel for that information we must contact the local utility and they tell us (plumbers /gas fitters) which chart to go by as it does vary.

I am curious about the terms we use as sometimes it is quite confusing even when speaking "English"
