Dishwasher starts for 3 seconds then stops...

I had a similar problem a few years back ...check the solonoid at the back where the water hose goes onto. Mine was not opening hence no water in the machine so it would cut out after a minute or so

    Glow worm Ultimate 100 FF

Thanks for all your help guys, you really confirmed what I thought! I'll bleed the system again although there is no bleed nipple on the pump itself and see how it goes. PS it's an open system, Y- system I believe!

    RCD Issue

Sorry, obviously not clear enough.. The 30mA RCD only protects the 240v supply to the cabinet and off this is a light, 2-cabinet door switches and the supply to the protection relays. no the lights don't go out when the wind stops blowing. I just think that a 100mA RCD would be...

    RCD Issue

A question that is being debated at the moment ... There is a 2.5mm SWA cable supplying an external supply to an HV Transformer enclosure from a wind Turbine. In all of these enclosures there is only a bulkhead fitting as the light source controlled by two door micro switches in parallel...

What is the best underlay for laminate over wood

Definately Fibreboard in my opinion, I always use this and it does make a big difference to the noise levels when walking on it. Re: size .... if you can get the larger thickness of board without having too big a 'step' at the door of other rooms then go for it.

    OSB rather than Ply

Thinking of tiling onto OSB rather than buying plywood, floor tiles for a hallway so there will be no water issues to worry about as in a shower / bathroom. I was thinking about sealing it prior to tiling with PVC boding or possibly an acrylic sealer. Anybody have any suggestions if this...

    'Turning' Tap

Help! I plumbed in my bathroom suite quite a while back but I am having trouble with the Hot tap 'turning' i.e. I cant get it tight to the porcalin of the basin. It is the usual plastic washer underneath and I have tried a bed of silicone between the tap and the basin ...holds for a while...

    wiring advise please

The Wylex split board from Screwfix is a good buy, but if you intend to have an electric shower fitted then you should upgrade the RCD to an 80A rather than the 60A 30mA trip that is fitted .... still works out a few 3s cheaper than buying similar from TLC

    Earthing pump pipes

Fit an earth clip on each pipe and loop a piece of 6mm earth wire between each (unbroken). I assume your pump is beside your D/W cylinder, if so then the pipework there should already be bonded together so bond between this bonding and thepump pipework

Ford Fiesta -- Chugs in 1st gear

I suppose that's one way to get round it but it's a definate fault and comes to the fore when you stop at a roundabout or a steep incline (we live in a very 'hilly region' ...not good for the clutches) and a ford fiesta lx doesn't have a lot of ooomph!

Ford Fiesta -- Chugs in 1st gear

Looking for some help re: my son's Ford Fiesta. Whenever in 1st gear if you accellerate hard it 'chugs' really bad (like Kangaroo petrol) OK 2nd, 3rd 4th etc. The mechanic had a look at it, changed a sensor (fuel / air mixture) that according to him caused a lot of similar problems, only £20 so...

    Ceramic tiles onto wood

Yes ... You'll get it at B&Q or any tile outlets, go for the rapid set stuff otherwise you will be laying the tiles and unable to walk on them for 24hrs or so.

    Wet Room Floor

I recently completed a similar project and replaced the old shower base etc. with a wet room floor .... looks a lot better. BAL do a shower tanking kit (£65'ish) that you'paint' over the cement base prior to tiling. have a look on this link, I explained in detail how I went about it + a...
