    taking card payment

I use WorldPay and for £15 per month you can combine with an online shop. I also use it a lot to take cards over the phone. Its a very efficient service. You might have to have an online shop though as that is its primary use.

Skim Coat one or two coats

Does skim coat need one or two coats. Bathroom has one old wall and the rest is plasterboard which has been painted on. I think it had rough plaster underneath which had been painted directly on.. The plasterer never mentioned doing two coats

tank giving me pressure on hot and cold

I have been advised to ger rid of my hot and cold tanks as only nm cold is mains and has pressure. I also could do with the extra space. The hot has no pressure really at the moment. So this tank will give me pressurised hot and cold enabling me to have a mixer shower with loads of...

    painting over skimmed plaster.

Is this the correct thing to do - read so many threads I am confused. After plaster skim - leave to dry out apply a miscoat of matt emulsion typically thin out by 30 -50% fill any minor blemishes with filler. lightly sand with fine sanding block. First coat of emulsion thin a little...

    lining paper over plasterboard

Thanks I will - eventually. I have nearly had my whole house redecorated over the last year and the lounge ceiling was papered over plasterboard. Three years ago we spent over £10,000 on a bathroom The decorator (different one) did the same thing. In my ignorance I thought nothing could be...

    lining paper over plasterboard

Is it good practice for a decorator to line over plasterboards that have not been skimmed. Or are they capitalising on muy ignorance!! Now I am noticing all the joins. I would prefer a plaster skim finish and feel like stripping it and getting the plasterer in.

    PLASTERING OVER PAINT

I WANT TO HAVE THE BATHROOM SKIMMED. HALF OF IT WAS PLASTERBOARD AND THE CEILING (I CAN SEE THE JOINS AS SHADOWS THROUGH THE PAINT) ONE WALL IS AN ORIGINAL . ITS A GEORGIAN FLAT. BIT WORIED ABOUT ALL THIS TALK ABOUT ONLY USING LIME PLASTER FOR OLD PROPERTIES?? WHICH WOULD BE THE BEST...

    joins in plasterboard

I had my lounge decorated this year. The decorator lined the celing. It is a false ceiling in an old house. I see visual lines where the plasterboard joins are. Is it normal practice for a decorator to fill these or shoud I have had a plasterer in to attend to this. None of the decorators...

lining or skimming or textured wallpaper

Thanks for that. Tried the pin head thing and I reckon it works on matt paint. I have the F&B Modern emulsion on the walls. I have kind of resigned myself to the fact that with this type of paint I would have been better with a plaster skim. Also the way the light floods in to create a...

    Walls in Bad Condition

Having had the decorators point of view I thought I would give this a try. I live in a 200 year old Georgian flat. Previously rooms have been lined and decorated and the result was not perfect but acceptable to me. Recently had my huge hallway lined and painted but poor result with major...

lining or skimming or textured wallpaper

Thanks I am going to live with it for a while and pehaps I will ask the decorator to cross line the offending sections as only one third of the hall is too bad. Also the light does not directly shine on to other parts as it is a basement. It is really only the back door area where the light...

lining or skimming or textured wallpaper

The rash marks - well my theory is as there was a lot of filling to do - he literally kind of skimmed it anyway and after sealing some of it bubbled up and I am not sure of they were rubbed down again or papered over (hence the pitting). It looks like "bits" are trapped under the paper. So are...
