Its a mighty fine vehicle Eddie, well built ergonomic and comfortable - but I can only comment on the diesel models. Build quality is good.
Many if not all manufacturers are now using small capacity turbocharged petrol engines which have a large BHP output and what seems to be reasonable torque - I can agree with the former but not the latter and I'd recommend a good test drive before you buy, laden if possible.
Somewhat aside from the topic, these small engines aren't the godsend we thought...a lot have short lives and they aren't as economical or non polluting that the manufactures hoped - I expect a redevelopment in the near future.
John :)

Whilst it has mainly specific purposes, I.e. must get good MPG, must be able to seat 4 adult passengers, but only very occasionally. My worry with the 1.0 is the torque, turbocharged buzz box is fine, but with 4 adult passengers and possibly luggage, will it get up a hill, hmm test drive beckons I guess.

I run a Kia Cee'd 1.6 petrol with 6-speed DCT. This is the Kia equivalent of the Hyundai I30. I too have concerns about the tiny turbocharged engines all manufacturers are now fitting to their various models. Like John (Burnerman) I have doubts about the longevity of these engines, as they will be "flogged" for most of their working life. I suppose only time will tell! At times I wish mine had a 2.5 litre V6 engine in it:mrgreen:

Ideally mine has a 4+ litre v8 in it.

I'm with you in spirit, I have an old V8 myself though it's not a 'daily' but sadly you can't have your cake & eat it too. Not if if you're looking for low emissions (for cheaper VED) & fuel economy.
