I’m getting fed up with premium bonds.

Thank you traz... I would do a small amount first to test the water.

A small amount will help you verify that you have connected to NS&I, but it will not give you a representative rate of return.

With a small investment, your prizes are likely to be so rare that you may never see one.

With £50,000 you can expect to approach a 1% prize return, and with most prizes at £25, almost 20 in an average year, randomly distributed. With £500 you could expect a prize averaging less than once in five years. With £50 you'd be lucky to receive one in a lifetime.

Of course, you might be lucky and win a million, but the chances are vanishingly small, and best disregarded.

Thank you John.
It would be a good chunk. Money I want to use when we finally get out of this world we are in. If I win I win it cant be any worse than sitting in my account.

yes, it's very safe, and even the nominal 1% is a hundred times more than some banks are paying.

Of the two, fifty quid prizes today, one account had £35k and the other (my sons account with money from grandparents and us that he doesn’t know he’s got) has about £3,500. He's only ever won one £25 prize before. My wife has £35k and got sod all this month. The £50 from my £35k was the first prize I’d won in the last 3 months. Hit and miss, pot luck, chance but better than nothing and not much less than investing it.

NS&I have changed their web site, and it is unusable, I used to just put in my number, and hey presto, it told me if I was a winner or loser. Not now, put in number , nothing happens, so tried logging on. 10 minute queue to log on ! **** that, so got app on my phone, yay, WINNER.
don’t you get emails or paid straight to your bank?

2 * £25
just worked out my return for the past 12 months 1.07%.
Ive done a lot better previous years.
The excitement each month brilliant..Mmmm

They email you, and it gets paid in, but not for a while after the draw. The website was easy, just put in your number and it tells you if you are a winner or not. They changed the site last month, possibly coinciding with the reduction in prizes, and i found it unusable , so I downloaded the app on my phone. Checked on app, winner, but no email yet.

Nothing this month but some last month.

Averaged out over time, about what you could reasonably expect.

Yes, you do get an email, but it's quicker to look online.
