Check the TRV's are Bi Directional, (being Drayton I would expect they are, but rules that out.) Will have an arrow pointing in both directions if so.

Thanks for the comment.I've had a main eco elite 30 for about 6 years now when I bought it they only had 2 years warranty. Nothing wrong in the first two years.
- New electrodes year 3
- Got a new pump in year 4
- New diverter valve year 4
- Got a new fan in year 5
- Had had a couple of gasket changes (normal service thing)
- Couple of burner installation plates changed (serviceable part)
So excluding the serviceable parts I've spent about £300 on it. The boiler was £600. I've never had any downtime.. the faults were identified and fixed either during service or in one day. To be honest I think it's really good value for money.. if I'd bought a vaillant or Worcester.. would be paying nearly 2k for the same power output
I sample mine from the magnetic filter when I open it for emptying. The water can be checked to make sure the inhibitor concentration is correct.Where do you take the water sample for testing? and what sort of information could they tell me based on the sample?

The worrying thing is that these engineers sometimes appear to do little to nothing at all.
As mentioned, I paid for a Baxi service and the chap didn't even clean the magnetic filter and he was too lazy to bleed the radiators. All of this makes doesn't fill me with confidence that he did much of a 'service'.
He definitely wasn't.A good installation can make a mediocre boiler behave well, or conversely a bad installation can make a good boiler behave like a bag of she-ite.
I've had a Main Combi (inherited with the house) in a rental (ie occupied by a guest ) for ten years with no problems...it doesn't make it the best boiler though. I spend some of my working life mending Vaillant boilers too, that doesn't make them bad boilers either; just bad for jobs in Britain.
Your Main service technician may have been rushed to get to his next job. Not trying to excuse not doing the job thoroughly though.

Out of curiosity, how much do you charge? and what do you do please?If I told you what I charge for a service, the first thing you'd say is "it doesn't usually cost that much!"
Then, when you have seen what I do, you'd hopefully understand why!

Things to look out for on every service
Every few years
- Drain boiler
- Pump up the expansion vessel
- Clean inside combustion chamber
- Empty trap and clean
- Drain magnetic filter
- Inspect electrodes and clean/replace if necessary
- Check for and advise of any signs of leakage
- Refill and bleed radiators
- Inspect/replace gaskets as necessary
- Take burner plate out and inspect and clean it
- Clean inside main heat exchanger
