What have you been doing today?

Despite strict instructions from Mrs Mottie, I had my first Facebook argument today on our local Facebook page! Currently our street is chokka block on both sides with Thames water contractor vans who are relining the drains. Two cars can’t pass. We also have marked bays for pavement parking. As I came back from my morning dog walk, there was a woman standing still, yapping on her phone while her dog was sniffing the wall outside my house. She saw me pulling in to park but made no effort to move either herself or her dog. I proceeded slowly and parked up. When I got out, she tried to tell me I nearly ran her dog over and just missed it by an inch. Total ballcocks so I just told her not to be so daft. She started shouting at me saying I was rude and should have waited until the dog finished its sniffing! I just ignored her and went indoors.

Imagine my surprise when I opened Facebook and saw a picture of my car parked up, accompanied by this text:

Anyway, in reply, I put up cctv footage of me 'speeding' accompanied by this message.

I accompanied that with footage of the bag of shìt she threw by the side of my car.

Straight away she messaged me apologising and asking for the post to be taken down. Before I could reply, my doorbell rang and it was a neighbour asking what had happened. As I was telling him, she came marching back so he left and she apologised for shouting at me, apologised for the bag of shìt and said that if I had just apologised to her for how I parked it wouldn’t have blown up! There was a silence and she said "what, so no apology"? I told her no, no apology, I’ve done nothing wrong. You ignored me and just carried on yakking. She then said she was talking to her mum who was ill and that she hadn’t posted the photo. I told her I saw her take the bloody photo and SHE was the 'anonymous' poster but she STILL denied it. I just went in and shut the door on her. Pointless arguing with someone who won’t even accept what she has clearly done. Anyway, she picked up the bag of shìt and went. Both her and my posts have been removed. Someone has already given Mrs Mottie a heads-up on the posts and I’ve already had a mild rebuke from her. It could go two ways when she comes home tonight! I need to gather my supporting evidence to present my case. :ROFLMAO:

As long as the scaffold pole wasn't involved you're in the clear mate.

I think driving standards have dropped since the 80s. And I'm including those that you would have called "professional" drivers too.

The things I see most often are

1. Drivers just shoving their way on to a DC or MW.

2. Drivers not following MSM. Some indicate as they move, others indicate while they are lane straddling, others don't bother at all.

3. Tailgating.
Driving standard's have dropped since 2021/end of lockdown.

We opened our joint Barclays account in 1984 when we got married. We have a joint, a personal and a savings account with them and I’ve had several business accounts with them over the years.
been in a Barclays branch today to pay Anglian Water bill. I was ready for the usual bo****g for not paying by card or on line,,, but instead paperwork done by a pleasant helpful chap. So gobsmacked I complimented both him and his manager.

My wife and her sister who have power of attorney for their mum went to Santander today to open another account for her. They took all their ID with them but were told to go home and do it online. They said no, we're here now, you can do it now. They gave them a tablet and told them to sit at a table and do it themselves! When they had done that, they said they needed to register the power of attorney. They were told they needed to make an appointment to do that so they made one for next Wednesday. The 'helpful chap' said that the appointment would be with him! Lazy ****ing git!

Here’s me 'speedily' parking, nearly hitting her and her dog.

Here's the packet she left for me.

Easy to blame the staff but they operate within an environment created by their superiors. Also they are on poor wages so you get what you pay for.

Get motorbiking on the case, pro bono :ROFLMAO:

Couple of things differ from the video, no waste basket on the door, but roof mounted satellite dish included, automatic nine speed gearbox

Finally got my garage back ;)

We finished the planters off this morning, working in the garage. The paint had dried by this morning, so we were able to line them inside with visqeen (sorry, I have absolutely no idea how you spell it).

Why are these quick jobs, never that quick?

Never mind, done now, and car (covered with snow :(, back in garage)

Why are these quick jobs, never that quick?

A couple of "explanations" that I personally give credence to.

- Parkinson's Law (a job will take all of the resources - in this case, time - available for its completion)
- (likely, a corollary of the above), repeated refinement of the result, with ever-diminishing returns. You were 95% there after, for example, 4 hours, but spent another 12 hours to only get to 98%..........
