Question for the SAFE registered ... What's the general feeling about fitting used parts?

My situation is the gas valve on a conventional boiler has packed up. It's an Ideal Concord brute supplying heating only to four floors. It is old but going strong. Replacing the boiler is not an option.

Naturally Honeywell have stopped making new valves so my preferred option is to buy a used one and have it fitted/commissioned by a SAFE member.

Thoughts please.

those sorts of boilers had quite a bit of room behind the front panel and Ive certainly seen retro fit stuff fitted and "hanging off"

not sure if it can be done with a gas valve

Id be interested to see what the professionals think about fitting used parts -esp given that its a gas component

In what way has it packed up ?
is it red and white push button or the grey push button ?

It's a potential solution assuming an engineer is willing to repair.

Question was if engineers are happy to fit used parts though.

why fit used when the existing valve is perfectly repairable in ten minutes
Buy secondhand and if it doesnt work you will still be charged a lot less hassle to change a solenoid than to change a whole gas valve .
But no it wont bother a lot of guys changing secondhand parts but others wont
