He only sold one painting in his entire life and that was to his brother, I think.

In early life he was a salesman in a gallery.

Van Gogh did a painting of his doctor who treating him at the time.
The doctor thought it was rubbish and used it patch a hole in his chicken coop.
Later he gave it away to someone.
The same painting today, is worth millions.
