What you see as argument can also be perceived as an honest opinion from a different pov to yours....an argument is not necessarily being contrary for the sake of it but a genuine comment offering a broader perspective within the framework of discussion.

...and on the subject of perception; i wonder what you saw in post #259 to prompt a response in post #260?

There is a way to put your point across and argue your point in a non patronising way, IT Minion does not have this skill set and is well known for the lack of it.
My response to you was based upon you taking the mick with your picture that you posted which was an obvious provocative post designed to offend or derail a thread into ridicule rather than believing that was a genuine alien walking around. I am sure you do not believe that there are aliens walking around dressed like that, therefore you are simply monkeying around a serious thread.

I didn't no. It wasn't meant as an insult. Someone obviously thought it was who did, and I know exactly who it was but I don't offend easily so I didn't mind.

Ah I see what this is - you are just arguing the toz over the word orbiting.
So you agree that it is an object.
No it is not orbiting it appears to be stationary. It seems to be above the earth because it can also be seen later in the distance as the starship is further around its semi orbit.
If in its first appearance it was actually thousands of miles away from earth and it just looked like it was above earth then as the starship moved around the earth it would look like it gets closer to the atmosphere as the earth covers it. But it doesn’t, it stays in the same "height" above the earth

It could be the booster and ship separation plume. But if you look at the 4k broadcast on a big 4k tv you can see that the "object" or "plume" is very angular in nature, that seems to cast a shadow upon itself from the sun on the right. It does not look anything like a plume.
Also a plume would not stay stationary as the plume is blasted out at massive speed.

The other thing is I have watched every one of the test flights and the commentary from space ex is usually pretty good as they explain what you are seeing but in this instance - deathly silence - nothing. I would have expected something like "and as starship is in glide mode you can still see the separation plume in the distance"

Thousands of miles away? That makes no sense. It would be the size of a moon to appear that big. It would also be above the continental United States. Its amazing how no one else saw it.

You are not looking at the right object - you cant be there is lens flare there for sure but this is not lens flare. Lens flare does not appear from behind something like this object does.

Thousands - hundreds, whatever I was just making a distinction between "above" the earth and some distance away - in the background as it were. As for size - difficult to say. You mean no one else on earth looking up into the sky didn’t see it from the ground - no they would not be able to see it from the ground.

People see starlink satellites from the ground with the naked eye and they're 11m across at the same altitude as Starship.

Then again maybe the glowing blue object was more subtle than a satellite designed to have low reflectivity.

Even making basic estimates for speed and the change in size the object was not beyond the planet, it roughly halved in scale after only ~700km. That would mean it is only 700km or so away to start with. Since you're clearly weak on scale that's less than 1/10 th the diameter of the earth, not enough to be behind the planet. Did they set down in Roswell again?

Of course it can, lens flare is a product of light bouncing around the lens in a way it shouldn't. If you have light coming in from just the right angle to produce the classic blue lens flare we see here, and then move it gradually out of the perfect angle it'll move out of shot and disappear.
