I don't yet have a gas smart meter. The fella who services my gas boiler told me not to bother with a gas smart meter because of charging reconfiguration due over the next few years.

My supplier is asking me to book a smart installation.

Is that the way to go I wonder?

Dont forget though that millions of them do not work properly approx 4 million at present , they breakdown more than an standard meter and they can do real time pricing so when you want to use it at peak hours they can charge more .
And in worse case scenarios in an energy crisis they can turn you off remotely .
As for electric ones poorly installed ones from the meter monkeys have caused house fires a mate of mine done an audit on hundreds of installs and found around 25 % dangerous .

Yep, I have been to a few recently that have stopped working for whatever reason. I don’t know what the battery lifespan is on them compared to ones of old?
