People who are so specialised that the only job they (can) do is screwing plasterboard into place, fixing plasterboard using the dot n dab method, and plastering over a freshly installed and perfectly level plasterboard surface.
"Plasterer's Dot and Dabbed away"!! Don't think so WYL, plasterers get to go and sort out a lot of the bodged up work that a lot of these so called specialists do. You read about it on here often in posts, eg,"Skim falling off", "Rough finish to the ceiling skim", New skim plaster cracking" "Joints showing through my newly skimmed walls" etc etc. There will always be "plasterers" around, maybe not as many as there used to be, but it's still a much sought after trade,,,,, along with all the other aspects connected to the centuries old craft of "real plastering".
Bloody drylining You wont see me dot and dabbing a wall so i can get off the job as quick as possible before the customer tries to hang his lovely new plasma.
I take pride in my work.
There should be 2 job tittles when people sell themselves as a plasterer
No 1 Skimmers
No 2 Float & Set (proper plasterers)
Anyhow, thats my post for September, see you next month.
