    Wax my worktop after oiled?

Made a bar table from a solid oak worktop, I've been oiling the worktop but still drys out in 1-2 weeks and some areas of the surface gets slightly rust as well. The dining table I bought is wax finished and my wife loves it, it's smooth and water resistant as well. I'm also buying another...

    Nailer for fixing skirting board

You are right the cheaper ones are actually air nail gun. Electric nail guns cost more, such as this one: Tacwise 181ELS Electric Nail Gun https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00B1P5TC2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_lfJGzbRGEGEVB But if the electric nail gun could do the trick and substantially reduce the time...

    Nailer for fixing skirting board

Just laid the laminate flooring on ground floor and is looking at the skirting boards. I'm going with the ' no nail glue' for the installation but noticed my builder was also using an air pumped nail gun to fix the skirting board in place before the glue settles. I looked at the nailer guns on...

    New paint stinks! Please HELP.

I have recently had 3 bedrooms re-plastered and painted with paints I bought from B&Q, but the paint stinks! I then did a quick search, (which I should have done before buying the paint), it turns out there are so many reviews with people complaining the smell, which being described as cat urine...

Video entry system and automatic driveway gate

Hi I currently replaced my 'very old' Comlit video entry system with Ring Doorbell Pro, but the video quality was not that great and I think partially because of my internet connection the video/audio via internet is not that great. So I consider the Ring as temporary solution. But I would...

"L" shaped bar table: how to joint solid wood worktop at right angle

Hi I'm looking to DIY an "L" shaped bar table, similar to the one below: I plan to use pocket hole screw to joint the two panels together with bit of the glue at the joint, this seems to be the easiest and effective way to do it. And requires only a few tools. And the pocket hole can be...

does UK require route the mains cable inside pipes?

You are absolutely right, rats are separate issue that should be dealt with if happens, I was just making an example. Steel conduit is what we use for home internal wiring but that was mostly because it is easier to replace the wiring if required, and usually the wiring are in the walls not in...

Bosch GCM 800 SJ or DeWalt DWS774

thank you very much for the advice from first hand experiences. I'm leaning towards the DWS774, especially its bevel goes to 48 degree so very handy for skirt cutting as I understand it. Only downside would be the blade size of only 216mm, would this be restricting for my future works? I 'm only...

does UK require route the mains cable inside pipes?

Thank you Motman, yes the cables in walls have the protection cover - not pipes just a plastic cover then the plaster over the cover - not the best but I guess it will do what it's supposed to. I don't have loft floors, just the heat insulation materials then the cables lay over it. Looks a...

towel radiators connected to hot water not central heating

I am unfamiliar with the system but I had a look in the loft, I think I have mains water pipe feeding a large cold water tank, and there's a small tank beside it. The cylinder is in the airing cupboard and there's a pump pumping the heating, the hot water is not pumped.

towel radiators connected to hot water not central heating

It's Quinn radiator, I think it is steel. I guess I can test that, if I shut off the radiator valve and still get hot water from the tap, then it's two loops?

towel radiators connected to hot water not central heating

thanks a lot for the quick responses, it actually makes sense to do it this way. But is the hot water of the bath/shower actually route from the radiator? Feels like the water washes the radiator first then us? Yes I have the old gravity system, which I am going to change to unvented cylinder...

Bosch GCM 800 SJ or DeWalt DWS774

Hi, I'm looking to buy a mitre saw to work on some home projects, will start with cutting some laminates and skirts etc, then maybe some garden projects later in the summer. Had a quick look and the DeWalt and Bosch comes in within my budget, just wondering if anyone had any experiences with...

towel radiators connected to hot water not central heating

I just noticed that when my CH is off and with HW on, all my radiators are cold but the towel rails are hot, I suspect the towel radiators are connected to the hot water instead of CH. Is this normal? my builder said he connected my towel radiators to the pipes where the old radiator was...
