Hi
I'm looking to DIY an "L" shaped bar table, similar to the one below:

I plan to use pocket hole screw to joint the two panels together with bit of the glue at the joint, this seems to be the easiest and effective way to do it. And requires only a few tools. And the pocket hole can be hidden as it's facing the inner side. The other side of worktop will lay above my kitchen work top.

Just want to check if this will work and strong enough for the purpose. or is there any other simple ways to do the job and may looks better?

should work fine, but for a better appearance you could mitre and biscuit joint and glue the joint, but as you point out will need the tools to cut the joint, fit the biscuits and sash clamps to glue the joint.

Personally I'd avoid pocket hole screws for any unsupported application. Dowels are probably the best low-tech approach - glued dowels are considerbly stronger than pocket hole screws
