Error message when copying video files

Just to close this out. I managed to get all the files copied across. I had to copy them in small batches and still occasionally got error messages ("file format not recognised" or "an error occurred while copying files"). However, disconnecting and reconnecting the phone seemed to do the trick...

Error message when copying video files

I have been trying to copy some videos from a phone to a laptop. However, I keep getting the message "Data supplied is wrong type" and nothing copies. The properties of the files look ok, they are all MP4 files, mostly received over Whatsapp. I tried removing the SD card and plugging it into the...

    Soaker hose lengths

I have recently fitted an irrigation system (4mm) for a number of fence mounted baskets. I have fitted two spray nozzles for each basket but these do not seem to be very effective at soaking the whole basket. I think a lot of this is due to having to throttle some of the earlier nozzle flows to...

    UPVC window hinge type

I don't think it is either as the window seems to open fully. I have seen a couple of pictures of these suggesting they might be variable geometry hinges. I am more interested in finding some with the fixing holes in the same position as mine. Securistyle hinges seem to be the closest match and...

    UPVC window hinge type

Can anyone tell what type of hinge this is? The hinge has an extra control arm in the middle which is missing on the majority I have seen including those fitted to my other windows. I have seen these hinges online but there is nothing to say why they are different. I want to replace them but...

    Fence treatment

So is a water based or solvent based water sealant the best? My fence is still fairly light but I am going to lightly sand it to even up the colouring on some slats. I then want to keep it light so a water repellant with UV protection would be ideal. Has anyone any experience of the Barrettine...

    Fence treatment

I haven't used the water based Sika treatment yet. Just been waiting for it to dry off a bit before treating. What was the solvent clear version you used. Was it a Sika product?

    Fence treatment

I had a large fence installed about 18 months ago and had planned to treat it this year. It is a simple slatted type fence with gaps between the slats. I have tended to use Sika wood treatment on all my exterior wood and was going to use the same here. I have now discovered that this treatment...

    Stand alone Microsoft Office

Yes, I have checked and that is exactly the problem. Documents were saving to OneDrive by default. For some documents I don't have a problem with this but for others, I will need to make sure they are saved locally. Thanks for the advice. An awful lot changed when I reinstalled Windows 10 and I...

    Stand alone Microsoft Office

Thanks for all the answers. I think I have sorted it out. If I try to open up a new document in one of the office apps, I get the offline message. However, I can open and edit a locally saved document while offline. I also get the text box option which I wanted. It does appear therefore that I...

    Stand alone Microsoft Office

I thought I had downloaded and installed the app but if I try to open any of the office apps I just get a message telling me I am not connected and I should carry out the usual connection checks.

    Stand alone Microsoft Office

I haven't paid for a subscription. I downloaded Office 2016 Home and Student version, perpetual licence, single install for a one off payment. This one: Microsoft Office 2016 Home and Student PC - Download - (mssoftware.co.uk) I didn't pay much for it as I just needed something to get me up...

    Stand alone Microsoft Office

My current Office suite will not open unless I am online. The other issue I have is that I use text boxes quite a lot and apparently, according to Microsoft, these are not currently supported by online versions of Word and I need the desktop version which I have to pay for (having already forked...

    Stand alone Microsoft Office

How do I get a version of Microsoft Office that does not need internet access, i.e. a stand alone version? I recently carried out a full factory reset on my PC which, while speeding up my laptop considerably, I lost (on purpose) my previous copy of Office 2008 Enterprise which had and was...

    Pump for irrigation system

The baskets are about 2m above the ground and the last basket is around 20m from the water butt

    Pump for irrigation system

I plan to install an irrigation system to water a number of fence mounted plant baskets and some large plant pots. I want the option of using either the outside tap or a water butt to provide the water. I am considering using a drill powered pump for the water butt. Will this work ok and is...

    Polystyrene tiles between rafters

Yes, I have a breathable membrane. The polystyrene is effectively up against the membrane.

Gaps between skirting boards and engineered wood flooring

Most of my house is laminate or engineered flooring now and I have removed all the skirting before laying the floor then fitted new skirting afterwards. I purposely left a gap of about 3mm between the skirting and the floor and I filled this with the thin foam material that is used as a floor...

    Polystyrene tiles between rafters

I probably already know the answer to this question but I will ask it anyway. We had all the roof tiles replaced about five years ago and afterwards I renewed the loft insulation and boarded the loft. I also fitted 2" thick polystyrene between the rafters, the polystyrene being cut into tiles...

    Microsoft office versions

The professional version does include powerpoint, outlook and access etc which the home and student version doesn't. As such, I don't understand why the professional version generally seems to be cheaper than the home and student version even though it has the extra apps.
