    Concrete using Type 1 MOT

Its sets like bell iron. We will sometimes chuck some cement in along with a shovel of screed sand, when we want a bit of oomph to our hard core layer.

How to dig down my hall for underfloor heating

You should look at what the make-up of the floor is. You might strike lucky and have a concrete sub-base along with a floor screed, affording you the opportunity to break up the screed and lay your UFH. However, those panels look like they'll need a fair bit of cover, to prevent delamination...

Outside Partition Wall With Outhouse Falling Apart

...on a budget should I do it a bit at a time with some cheaper tool? I don't know what tools to use for this. I also need to know what tool to use to put new mortar in and what the easiest to use mortar is as I won't have a cement mixer. Any advice on the attached outhouse would be welcome too.

    Foundation sanity check.

After being told my first idea was doomed to failure, I've come up with two alternatives, the first comprises a minimal strip and foundation blocks, and the second is a full fill trench. Building will be an unattached outhouse, non-Building Controlled, 3m tall brick-and-block home gym, with no...

Where have all the integrated vented tumble dryers gone?!

Where have all the integrated vented tumble dryers gone? Ours is 20 years old and has recently begun making a great impression of a cement mixer! I could have a crack at repairing, but given its age, it's probably time for a new one. I am absolutely flabbergasted than I can't find a single...

    Wet adhesive

I used this tile adhesive to stick on a couple of ceramic tiles. Approximately 48 hours later, I went to drill some holes for a shower mixer and the force/vibration of the drill pulled the tile away from the wall. I noticed that most of the adhesive was still entirely wet at this point. I...

...work, but finally got the paving slabs in place, each one set on a bed of mortar: Next weekend, weather permitting, I hope to hire a cement mixer and mix enough concrete to fill some of the trench on either side of the slabs to ensure they are fully supported. Then the soil will be pushed...

...concrete: 8 x 25kg bags cement 1 x large jumbo ballast bag (I think this is around 800kg), which is probably more than I need, but it works out cheaper than buying many small bags. I'm planning to mix it in a 1 cement to 6 ballast by volume. Now I just need a cement mixer and some good weather!
