Wetroom: Do I lay UFH mat on Marmox preformed shower tray?

Hence asking the question... thank you for the reply it is part of my concern too. As there was no obvious choice in where to post I thought I'd try here as I suspect there will be some professional wetroom installers lurking around here somewhere! The idea of electric UFH in a wetroom...

Electric UFH in wetroom-Do I lay onto preformed shower tray?

Hi folks, looking for some advice on my impending wetroom project. Pointed here by the tiling forum... next stop plumbing I guess! :) The room will have a level floor and a preformed marmox shower tray. My query is whether or not I should lay the Devi heating mat into this shower tray...

Wetroom: Do I lay UFH mat on Marmox preformed shower tray?

Hi folks, looking for some advice on my impending wetroom project. Unless any of you can see any major flaws, the floor construction is 18mm WBP glued and screwed to joists+noggins, 6mm Marmox insulation boards 'glued' with rapidset cement for the majority of the floor area and a preformed...

    Removing tiles whitout damaging them

A dremel with a diamond cutting wheel will give a neater and less damaging result than an angle grinder. I'd even be tempted to use the dremel to accurately cut your electrical box aperture without having to remove any tiles.

Which radiators to use? Ultraheat any good?

small bump... Just really after thoughts on Quinn, stelrad, myson, ultraheat, <insert preferred other>. I'm sure they are all much and a muchness but I don't like doing the same job twice if you get my drift, so would prefer to fit a reliable, functional product.

Which radiators to use? Ultraheat any good?

Hey all, I've been trying to search for the trades thoughts on the ultraheat line of radiators. The main reason being that they appear to do a number of different sized vertical rads at competitive prices. So if they don't come recommended which brand would be a good solution to replaced me...

Which recessed down-lights are suitable for wardrobe pelmet?

Thanks Steve, they are sliding doors so no trouble there :) Do the led lights need their own separate transformer? Know where I may be able to source directional ones from? (ignoring the rip-off high street DIY stores!)

Which recessed down-lights are suitable for wardrobe pelmet?

I have just installed some fitted wardrobes and would like to have 3 or 4 down-lights recessed into the pelmet to shine downwards (and possibly in when the doors are slid open if I can get some adjustable ones). They will be inserted into a 36mm thick (sandwich of 18mm thick chipboard and...

Heya, hope you don't mind me pm'ing you. I noticed you are in Bournemouth. Are you after any jobs atm and are you Part P registered? If not are you able to recommend some sparks locally. I'm on West Overcliff and would be looking to get this done around 17th/18th March.

    Proposed Kitchen wiring plan

Right, bad news its all on the same ring. Shame as really I'm not adding any more than was there before. But I see that overloading the ring could be a possibility. The only additions I was planning to make was the provision of two more FCUs to improve on the current situation which was just...

    Proposed Kitchen wiring plan

Swidders - rgr, the cables run under the bathroom floor and are "supported by a few "X" braces between the joists. They only cross one joist and pass through a notch, they are cable clipped to the notch as they pass over it.

    Proposed Kitchen wiring plan

ColJack - Right, I've been thinking about that a bit too. I fear this could be the start of a partial rewire! bugger! At the CU there are two rings serving the entire flat, about 7 additional outlets on top of the kitchens. The kitchen is a 6 /7 m long galley affair and the cables all...

    Proposed Kitchen wiring plan

Swidders - I wasn't intending to render/plaster over them, just to lay them out in preparation. Although, now you mention it, it would be more prudent just to do the chasing out and sinking the boxes and leave the cables to the spark, I hate doing the same job twice! Ta for the advice.

    Proposed Kitchen wiring plan

Actually no, good of you to spot my omission... there are a few more sockets (1 dble and 1 single atm) on the Ring but I've left them out for clarity. Now you mention it, there will be a bit of tweaking there too, but that is straightforward - adding a cple more sockets and some 13 amp FCUs (and...

    Proposed Kitchen wiring plan

Yes, it will be a 45 amp JB about 300mm vertically up from the floor, behind a 1000mm wide pan drawer unit. Well not exactly, I'm trying to sort this out now so that I can properly decide on unit layout etc, so I can do most of the donkey work (adding the new chases where possible, confirm...

    Proposed Kitchen wiring plan

Ah yes, sorry that bit on the right for the washing machine is already wired as you say but I have drawn it incorrectly. The 6mm is existing wiring again. Sadly the feeds into the CU are not easily accessible. I appreciate it would be better to run a new length of 10mm cable from the CU to...

    Proposed Kitchen wiring plan

Hi again, I've been doing some reading up thanks to these excellent forums etc and hope I've come up with a safe wiring solution for the Kitchen (first floor flat) Can I ask for suitably qualified eyes to once over the pdf wiring plan to see if there's anything wrong with it please...

    Electrical backboxes into wood?

Is it acceptable to place electrical backboxes into wood? I wasn't sure if this would present a fire hazard or if it meets regulations. I have 6m of windows along one side of the kitchen and the vertical timber supports are the only place I can realistically place sockets/FCUs.

New extractor hood - No earth, can I put a plug on it?

yep thanks, got all that, just that I havent been able to check the extractor yet as I dont have it here. I just know that it only has blue and brown, no earth and wondered if it was still ok to wire it to a plug despite not having an Earth wire. I hope it is double insulated because if not...
