    Fireplace Question/Cost

How much to fill in this fireplace? Brickwork a bit shabby so probably need knocking back a bit and bricking up rather than just boarding over but plaster seems solid either side of the old fireplace. Happy to hear what you think whether to brick or board and what costs estimated at...

Was doing my mates kitchen ceiling yesterday morning and half way through had a blob of plaster go in my right eye! Totally my fault as normally wear my specs but left them at home and thought I'd just crack on regardless! A few spreads into the second coat and the blob landed! However...

    Spot Board

Hello, As I'm new to plastering and learnt the basics at night school where we used a spot board, so I thought I'd have one myself...why not eh? I wasn't sure what sort of wood to use and the guy at night school said it was MDF. However, I'm finding that the mix is going off quite quickly...

    A little help please....

Hello, Just finished doing my mates bathroom as my first job. All went well except I was struggling like heck with the smallish gap between door frame and corner of wall. The gap was about 5 inches and I was struggling away with my trowel for a lot longer than I'd have liked to get a flat...

Small area of wall with exposed lathe

Hello all, I'm helping a mate out skimming a wall and he has a small area with exposed lathe. Area is no bigger than your fist. How would you normally repair this? The existing plaster is skimmed quite thinly so you couldn't cut a piece of plasterboard into the gap and skim over as the...

    Internal Bare Brick Walls

All, Going to do a bit of work shortly on the above surface on a dwarf wall. Is Bonding Coat recommended prior to finishing or Hardwall? Must admit I've seen the links on the gypsum site and it still hasn't sunk in-me being as thick as the plaster I guess :? Matt
