Fitting concertina (plastic) door - slightly too long

Probably too difficult to cut. Its only about 1cm out to be honest. One idea was to remove the surround above the door? Good idea or bad idea?

Snapped key in my trailer hitch lock..... Any ideas?

You the type, bright yellow, fit over the towball.... Not been used for a while so think its seized but key has snapped off in the lock now.... Any suggestions? Im assuming its easier (if at all possible) to drill out the lock rather than cut the actual bars? After all if it was that easy...

Concreting over chipping at side of patio

Pretty common I guess. Concrete slabs/patio then chippings down the sides. Anyway my dear wife has had a bright idea that you can just pour concrete over the chippings and its job done. Shes bought a bag of floor levelling compound. Is is this easy?

    Fitting new sink waste

32mm sink waste fitted. Trouble is the 32mm p trap end doesnt quite fit in the hole. I'm assuming the entire tip (inc the washer) goes inside? It doesnt leaving about 2 mm to go in. No way that bit with the washer on is going in there. Thats never going to work - tightening up the nut it doesnt...

    Waste replacement Belfast sink.

Looks like the bit in the sink (plughole) is screwed into the bit below and this seems to have snapped completely. No problem, I thought, got replacement from screwfix. Fits well - apart from a side waste flex pipe. Seems this one is slightly smaller diameter than the one thats currently there...

Replacement shower hose - male thread into mixer shower housing

Having a nightmare with this. Thought I'd cracked it using a 1/2" male to 3/8" male adaptor. The 1/2" bit fits into the new hose but its a smidge too small to screw into the mixer shower housing. Problem is I can't remember make of shower. Any ideas what I can do?

Toilet inlet - leaking again - furred up

Pretty sure I've changed this before.... Appears to be leaking due to mould/fur causing a problem. Luckily, its the connection to isolating valve thats the problem so easy enough to swap out. Still a right PITA. Anyway to stop it re-occuring?

Outdoor socket - daisy chain to shed - ok to do?

Previously I had a kit. RCD inside to outdoor socket then armoured cable out the bottom of this to shed to another outdoor socket. Not the best quality and the shed one I replaced years ago with a better one. The first one in the chain needs doing now. Will there be anything special about this...

Used 12mm bolts but hole in TV bracked is only 10mm!!!

Yes should have measured first. Bad mistake.... What are my chances of success trying to make hole in the metal bigger? Step drill bit or reamer? Or give up, fill in the hole I've made and try again with smaller bolts?

Leak from bathroom into kitchen - sockets causing trip now

Switch on RCD for sockets (kitchen) but it doesn't look like all sockets for some reason. Had water leaking through ceiling. Not that bad - a few drips and stained sealing - could be worse. Got home emergency cover but they said they wont send an electrician for 48 hours until it dries. Can...

    Fixing to cinderblock walls

Want to put an ikea cupboard (small one) onto conservatory wall. I bought the grip-fit things and I've also got the plastic toggles. BUT it looks like the plasterboard has been laid directly on top of the cinderblock. No gap at all. So can't use spring toggle type fixing. The cinderblock is...

Kitchen mixer tap - loose in Belfast sink

Belfast sink with single mixer tap. Single hole. I can see some sort of "surround" in the hole. But the main mixer tap sits on top and appears to be secure with a grub screw. Trouble is the hole/thread appears to be knackered. Obviously, I can't just screw a normal screw in because there are...

Upstairs radiators hot even though heating is not on

Had new boiler from British Gas a few months ago with Hive. We've not got a combi but a water tank upstairs. So you need to schedule water and heating. Obviously, in this weather heating is off. (but we still need hot water) Noticed last night that upstairs radiator only were hot. I turned...

Not much hot water in tank

Got a hot water tank system. Recently noticed that no matter how long the hot water is set to heat there is much less hot water than there used to be. Runs out really quickly -as if its heating half a tank or something. Anything obvious to look for?

    Shower cut off/timer

Got teenage son who, despite, umpteen warnings is still inclined to spend ages in the shower and use all the hot water. As you can tell, we've got a hot water tank rather than combi boiler. Tank is in airing cupboard next to bathroom. Would there be a cut-off from the pipes into the shower...
