My patio slabs have gone the usual pale green colour with what looks like white splash marks (I assume this is another fungus). Can anyone recommend the best way to clean them without resorting to using a power spray?

Does anyone know if there is a new EU ruling which states that those kind gentleman who repair our highways and byways need to have the use of a portable toilet sited nearby? One appeared in my road yesterday, on a council maintained grass verge opposite my driveway (nice) for workmen in the...

    Dado rail

I am in the middle of having my hallway redecorated and thinking of having a dado rail fitted. The problem I have is what height should it be? The decorator says below windowsill height but I don't think that will look right as there will be a gap of about 3-4 inches between windowsill and...

The Stern Report (aka Global Warming)

It matters little. What is obvious from the report and the response to the report is that the cost is going to be enormous and is going to hit us all where it hurts most. Once we start paying a dubious "green tax" on certain things it is another way for the government to collect even more...

The ball is rolling.... so to speak

Now look you chaps. We girls have to put up with all the pain and discomfort of periods every month, the ordeal of childbirth, followed later by the ups and downs of the menopause, which we all accept as our lot, without complaint, while you men don't have any such grief. So if you...

The Stern Report (aka Global Warming)

Once again the doom-mongers are in the news. Sir Nicholas Stern was commissioned by the government to produce a report stating the effects on the world of global warming if we all sit back on our (obese) bottoms and do nothing. The results are due to be published shortly, but in a nutshell it...

    ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ

When I were a lass way back in the ..... well a long time ago anyway, the new teaching aid at the time was ITA or Infant Teaching Alphabet. Phrases such as "I like my cat" would become "I liek mi kat" with the ie joined together as a new double letter. Then when we had got to grips with all...

Gas traders start giving it away

Ok can all you clever chaps out there explain to me why, when the price of gas ( or anything) goes up it is always instant, but when it goes down, as in the case of gas at the moment, we have to wait 6-9 months to feel the benefit in our pockets?
