    Low loss header system problems.

Is there anyone on here with experience in light commercial systems incorporating a low loss header? (It's all about the header). It'll be a long blurb as to what's going on but certainly will post it if there is, Thanks.

Scratched a gas pipe with a saw

Pipe wall 3-4mm thick? Have we got iron here?

    VUW 242 1E

Not wishing to sound disrespectful Ben, but I'd trawled my computers (where I did have them), checked the V site, and being a Saturday morning and xmas post V would probably get me a set by- new year? Sometimes its safe to assume that people do think for themselves before asking! I'll try the...

Think the diverter is struggling- hot water gets there but slow to react. Going to try and pick up a service kit today but don't like to touch things without the book.

Would anyone be kind enough to email a copy ot the MI's for the above. Most embarrassing that I don't have it as the thing is in my own house. Save me from the wrath of my missus please! Thanks in anticipation, Ian.

    Mole.

Sadly I can't get past the first contact person who says, 'Our guidelines are for trenching', so trying to get put onto one of their contractors isn't going to happen. Will be keeping an eye out for one of their vans so I can cut out the official response and talk to a man who knows!

I think it is time I changed this boiler

£100 could lose you the job. Say you were measured against someone who impresses the customer exactly as you do, but who comes in that bit cheaper without the extra trv's? Job gone unless the customer is well informed and has been made aware of how to compare the two. But how about this. Looked...

I think it is time I changed this boiler

I do see your point and I always 'recommend' such- but I don't try and tell them that they have to upgrade everywhere on a boiler swap. Having told them the truth ocassionally one will opt only for bedrooms, especially when a new boiler wasn't part their financial master plan plan! As for...

I think it is time I changed this boiler

Well I've had a quick scan of the 2005 update and the 2006 version and can't see anything that makes more than 2002 'sleeping areas to be zoned seperately' compulsory. Chess having us (thereby the customer) over it seems!

I think it is time I changed this boiler

Is the updated chess compulsory or just a recommendation, ie have the building regs been changed too to more than sleeping areas (compulsory)?

Some advice on Heatrae megaflo 300 PLEASE

Flushing at £340 included. Why? Are you having a new boiler as well for that money?

    Powerflushing microbore

Thanks Tony, fortunately all the rads are still getting flow. Upgrading to 15mm in this instance would be a nightmare. Just wondered if there were any special tricks with the nasty wee stuff!

    Powerflushing microbore

Haven't done a microbore before. Any special requirements or things to look out for chaps? Ta.

    Plumber taking the mickey

And hopefully he warned you (as most would in writing) of the possibility of such problems when you took the sealed system option. Did he powerflush? We get a disclaimer signed for that as well.

DIY plumbing for a combi boiler system

IMHO there's no reason to not do your own pipework (not gas) as long as you take responsibility for it. Reputable guy will still want it powerflushed and Part L complied with and may also want an indemnity that you will still pay even if your work stops him from being able to commission and...

    CORGI reg'd fitters

John, I believe Tony is just pointing out that the (plastic) condesate pipe needs to be insulated if not enlarged once outside. As for the flue, as already mentioned, corgi will inspect and issue a correction notice if the boiler isn't fitted to MI's. Not sure how corgi this corgi guy is though!

Really quick way to get hot water? (picture included)

Tut tut - shouldn't that be a condensing kettle!

    Sound a fair price?

    Is that inc vat Tony?

    Sound a fair price?

So 225+ 80ish if the best trvs+ 4 other valves and pipe and bits? Depending on how easy the rad swaps are, and how easy the add on is, and if the trvs will go on without tail cutting, and how long a piece of string is, I'd say it could have been a bit more.
